ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, Information seems reliable in view of PW’s length of service. He instructed his men (Mortar Go) to surrender instead of retreating.

13th Div composed of the 19th, 21st and 23rd (Code 721 KUN PUTAI) Inf Regts, Artillery Regt, AT Gun Bn, Sig Bn, Eng Bn, Supply Section & NCO Training Bn (敎學大院).
Each Inf Regt composed of 3 Inf Bns; each Bn composed of 3 Inf Co's, Mortar Co, HMG Co; 45mm Gun Plt, AT Gun Plt, Sig Plt, Med Plt and Supply Plt.

LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
13th Div CP was located in vicinity of TABU-DONG on 15 Sep 50.
PW stated that the 23rd Regt was the last to retreat; but, the Mortar Co, 3rd Bn, surrendered to ROK Army.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Volunteered for POAN KANPU SCHOOL (保安 幹部 學校) on 4 Dec 46 at HERYONG (會寧).
Attended this school from 4 Dec 46 to 8 Feb 48.
This school was designated as NK Public Army (北朝鮮人民軍) after 4 Dec 46.
After receiving his commission as 2nd Lt, he was assigned to 13th Div located at SINUIJU on 5 Mar 50.
13th Div departed SINUIJU on 18 Jun 50 for KUMCHON.
All Mortar Co's of the 13th Div remained at YONGCHON to receive mortars from KYONGSONG.
After receiving 6 x 82mm Mortars, his company departed YONGCHON by truck on 15 Jul 50. Reached TABU-DONG 15 Sep 50.

REPLACEMENTS:
23rd Regt, 13th Div received approx 314 replacements at TABU-DONG 17 Sep 50. They were SK & NK conscripts, hardly able to use a rifle. They were equipped with two grenades or a rifle.

FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
Since arriving at TABU-DONG, they depended on confiscated food (mostly oats & barley) from abandoned farms.
There were about 30 rds of 82mm Mortar ammo left in Mortar Co at TABU-DONG when he surrendered to ROK Army on 22 Sep 50.

ARMOR & ARTILLERY:
Heard that about 70 artillery pieces (76mm, 45mm, 120mm) arrived at TABU-DONG. D/Unk.
Observed 3 x 76mm guns destroyed by tanks at TABU-DONG area on 20 5ep 50.
