ASSESSMENT:
Informant was cooperative. Information seems reliable. Subject was captured in civilian clothes. Physical condition good.

MILITARY HISTORY:
Inducted on 25 Aug 50 at WON JU (原州) and attached to 18th Div, 33rd Regt, (Inf). Strength of 33rd Inf Regt about 1,200 men comprising 3 Bns. The 33rd Regt HQ was at WON JU. 800 men were armed with rifles and with 60 to 70 rds of ammunition. Remainder were stretcher carriers and first aid men. An unknown quantity of artillery ammunition came to WON JU from SEOUL and from here it was carried by village people to AN DONG (安東). On 2 Sep 50 the 3rd Bn (400 men) departed WON JU and arrived HOENG SONG on 3 Sep 50. 1st and 2nd Bn remained at WON JU.
At HOENG SONG they received 14 days of basic training. On 17 Sep 50 3rd Bn departed HOENG SONG and arrived (TON DEN MON) (東大門) SEOUL on 24 Sep 50 by foot at night to join the 1 Bn.
On 25 Sep 50 3rd Bn participated in the battle of NAMZAN (南山). Subject's platoon leader explained to the men before they engaged in battle, that 1st Bn was the first line bn and the 3rd Bn was the reserve.
At NAMZAN 1st Bn and 3rd Bn were practically wiped out. When subject saw his fellow soldiers killed, he fled and threw away his uniform.
He was captured by security police while hiding in a cave.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
According to the Communist regulation, medics are to be armed but subject was not issued arms. He were a red cross band on his left arm.
