Mission of 27th Regt, as of 24 Sep 50, was defense of the area between SONGJU and WAEGWAN.
PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:Inducted on 4 Nov 48 at P’YONGYANG into the 1st Div, 2nd Regt, 3rd Bn, 8th Co, 3rd Plat, 3rd Sqd. Trained as rifleman at P’YONGYANG for 3 months.
Departed from P’YONGYANG in May 49, by train with the entire 1st Div and arrived at SARIWON in May 50.
Departed from SARIWON in July 50, by train with 1st Div, and arrived at HAMPO (approx 8 km SE of NAMCHONGJO on the SARIWON - KAESONG RR Lines) in July 50.
Departed alone from HAMPO in Mar 50, by train, and arrived at SUKCHON in March 50, where PW was assigned to the Democratic Youth League Training Unit.
Departed from SUKCHON on 26 July 50, by train, with the entire Democratic Youth League Training Unit which had been renamed the 10th NKPA Div a few days prior to departure. En route to SANGJU, the following places were passed: SUKCHON, SEOUL, YONGDUNG PO, KUMPO, SUWON, TAEJON, KUMCHON, arriving SONGJU o/a 10 Sep 50.
While at SONGJU, PW was captured, 242100 K Sep 50, when US Army units seized the town.
REPLACEMENTS:45mm AT Co never received replacements since the Korean War began.
FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:Received an average of 2 bowls of mixed rice & barley much daily.
MORALE:45mm AT Co personnel had low morale because of ffrequent shelling by artillery and attacks by US aircraft.
GENERAL INFORMATION:PW did not know that UN forces had entered INCHON or SEOUL until he was captured on 24 Sep 50.
Received no gas equipment or training.
