Subject was cooperative. Information herein can be considered fairly reliable.
MILITARY HISTORY:Inducted 8 Jul 50 at PYONG YANG (平壤). Attached to the 571 Inf Regt, 3 Bn, 8 Co. Received about 15 days of military training.
On or about 25 Jul 50 the entire regt moved to the outskirts of PYONG YANG and hid in the nearby mountains to avoid the heavy bombardment. They remained in the mountains for about 2 months doing nothing.
The regt was composed of 3 battalions. Each bn had 3 companies. Strength of the 3 Bn was approx 350 men. At this time only 1/2 of the men of the entire regt were armed.
On 18 Sep 50 the 571 Regt departed PYONG YANG by train and arrived in SEOUL on 21 Sep 50. On this date (21 Sep 50) subject and 4 men deserted. He was captured 26 Sep 50 by ROKs in SHIN CHON (新村).
During the period 7 Jul 50 to 18 Sep 50 subject observed many Russian officers in PYONG YANG. The last observation of Russian officers was made on 18 SeP 50 at the PYONG YANG RR Station when the 571 Regt was leaving for SEOUL.
