MILITARY HISTORY:Inducted at PYONG YANG on 13 May 49. Attached to 845 Air Force Regt, 4 Bn, 2 Co in PYONG YANG. Received schooling on aircraft about one year and was transferred to HAM HUNG Air Force Regt, 2 Bn, 3 Co.
UNIT MOVEMENT:4 men selected from each bn as advance party of the regt left HAM HUNG on 20 Jul 50 and arrived on 23 Jul 50 at KUM PO Airfield on same day. The 861st Air Force Regt is believed to be in HAM HUNG.
UNIT ORGANIZATION & STRENGTH:Air Force Regt was composed of 3 Bns. Each bn was composed of 3 Cos. Strength of the Air Force Regt was approx 1,000 men.
AIRCRAFT:Subject believed that each bn had at least 20 airplanes. These planes resembled IL-10 Attack Bomber.
CODE NUMBER:This regt was called 861 Unit.
CIRCUMSTANCE OF CAPTURE:PW with 14 men deserted on 23 Sep 50 and surrendered to 7th Inf Division.
