PW was very cooperative and intelligent. Information obtained here seems reliable.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:PW was inducted into the service on 17 Jul 50 at PYONG YANG and received basic training for about one month and was attached to the 22 Artillery Regt, 2 Bn, 5 Co.
On or about 29 Aug 50 the entire 22 Arty Regt was transferred to SEOUL by rail (Right). The above regt arrived SEOUL on 8 Sep 50 and was assigned to the 18 Div.
On the night of 14 Sep 50 the 5th Co of the 22nd Regt was ordered to INCHON to meet the US Marines. The 5 Co's strength was approx 70 men with 4 (76 mm) guns. The 5 Co arrived at INCHON 04:00 15 Sep 50 but retreated to SEOUL 20:00 15 Sep 50. The 4 (76 mm) guns were left behind when the 5 Co retreated from INCHON. PW estimated that about 30 men of the 5 Co were killed on 15 Sep 50.
On 20 Sep 50 the 2 Bn was ordered to KIM PO area. Prior to departure, the 2 Bn was reorganized to a strength of 300 men. The 2 Bn departed with rifles only.
290 rifles (50% US M-1, 50% Russ), 100 rds per rifle.
10 PPSH Tommy guns (Russ), 142 rds per PPSH.
2 hand grenades per rifle man.
While the 2 Bn was enroute to KIMPO, PW deserted his unit and hid in a deserted farm house for 5 days prior to capture by the 5 Marines.
PW was captured in civilian clothes.
There were 50 PPSHs with 142 res of ammo per gun, 80 pistols (officers only), 870 rifles. (50% US M-1 and carbine, 50% Russ) with 100 rds plus 2 grenades per rifle in the 22 Arty Regt.
Food ration - 3 meals (rice and fish).
