MILITARY HISTORY:Inducted 29 Jul 50 at CHUN CHON (春川). On this date approx 2,000 men were inducted. Received 5 days of training at CHUN CHON with an unknown volunteer corps unit (composed of the above 2,000 men).
On 2 Aug 50 the above unit moved to SEOUL by train. Arrived in SEOUL 3 Aug 50. The unit was attached to the 19th AA Regt.
The 19th AA Regt was composed of 5 Bns and the Ind cadre company. (Each Bn composed of 3 companies.) (3 Anti-Aircraft Bns and 2 Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Bns)
Strength of this regt was estimated to be approx 1,600 men (only 500 of the 2,000 men from CHON CHUN were assigned to this regt.).
The regt was commanded by Brig General YU, Won Chon (유원천).
Observed about 12 to 13 Russian made 37mm AA guns and 12 AA machine guns (including 3-85mm guns) in the regt. The regt was also equipped with about 200 Russian ma.de rifles and 30 automatic rifles. He also observed 7 truckloads of anti-aircraft shells, however, he stated that 4 (truckloads) were lost due to air raids.
On 20 Sep 50 subject deserted his unit and was captured on 25 Sep 50 by UN Forces. On 24 Sep 50 subject met a fellow soldier who deserted on the 23rd and heard that the Regt had received orders to retreat to UIJONG BU (議政府) or PO CHON (抱川).
On or about 16 Sep 50 at SEOUL subject observed a truckload of American PsW.
