Pw appeared to be fairly intelligent, He was cooperative and considered relibale by interrogator. No further interrogation recommended.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
3 Apr 48 - Volunteered for NKA. Assigned 1st Div, SINUIJU (新義州). ved basic military training.
15 Oct 48 - PW promoted to Sgt (sqd 1dr). Continued training.
22 May 49 - PW enrolled NKA 2nd OCS, P’YONGYANG. Received one (1) year Inf training, including army organization, unit administration, AA-Gun operation.
22 May 50 - PW and 150 students graduated 2nd OCS, P’YONGYANG. Commissioned Jr Lt. PW assigned 586th AA Regt. Plt Ldr, 4th Co, 2nd Bn, P’YONGYANG.
25 Jun 50 - 586th AA Regt distributed among NKA Div’s (see 586th AA Regt Distribution). PW units, 2nd Btry attached 6th Div, KAESONG (開城).
31 Jun 50 - 6th Div departed KAESONG.
5 Jul 50 - Arrived KONGJU (公州) via SEOUL, P’YONGTAEK (平澤), CH’ONAN (天安). At KONGJU, 2nd Btry transferred to 2nd Div. 2nd Div left KONGJU same day.
16 Jul 50 - 2nd Div arrived YONGDONG (永同). 2nd Btry transferred to 4th and 9th Div’s. PW promoted to Sr Lt.
25 Aug 50 - 2nd Btry arrived 4th, 9th Div’s Area, SINBAN-Ni (新反里), 19 km SE of HYONPCH’ON (陜川).
30 Aug 50 - 4th, 9th Div’s crossed NAKTONG River. 2nd Btry Remained behind in SINBAN-Ni Area (lack of ammunition).
25 Sep 50 - 2nd Btry withdrew from SINBAN-Ni in north direction.
28 Sep 50 - Arrived TAEJON via HYOPCH’ON, KOCH’ANG (居昌), MUJU (茂朱). PW and 5 others, continued towards CH’ONGSAN.
30 1200 K Sep 50 - PW and 50 men captured 16 km NE of CH’ONGSAN by ROK Army units.

First organized May 49, P’YONGYANG. Equipped with following T/O and E (25 Jun 50):
586th AA Regt (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Bn’s) - Strength - 1600
1st Bn (1st, 2nd, 3rd Btry’s, Sig Plt, Supply Plt) - 320
4th Btry - (1st, 2nd, 3rd Plt’s) - Strength - 81
4 x 37-mm AA Guns M1939 (truck drawn) Ammunition: 150 rounds each; Impact detonating, armor piercing (used against ground targets e.g. tanks).
Signal Plt - Strength - 25
5 x Portable Battery-powered Transceivers
(2 x transceivers used at Bn Hq, remainder distributed to companies).
Others: 1 x aircraft sound detection apparatus in Regt (hearsay). Visual observers placed on high positions surrounding guns. No fire control devices.
Remarks:
AA Gun unit identifications unknown. Remainder of 586th AA Regt units, including 5th Bn located around SEOUL Perimeter (hearsay from fellow officers).
US Aircraft Shot Down:
10 Sep 50, 132 US aircraft, including B-29 Models (over SEOUL), were shot down to date, by 586th AA Regt units, mostly over SEOUL and ANDONG (안동) (hearsay from fellow officers). PW’s unit 4th Btry, 2nd Bn never shot down any US aircraft.
P’YONGYANG AA Gun Units:
Naval AA Guns units (identification, strength, unknown) Equipped with at least 50 x AA guns, including 37-mm, 85-mm and 125-mm (models unknown), around P’YONGYANG Perimeter. (Hearsay from fellow officers, 10 Aug 50).
