The PW was of average intelligence and although he was cooperative his information was limited.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
9 Oct 48: Inducted into Medical Co, 1st Brigade at CH'ORWON (鐵元). Received one year and a half of medical training.
21 Apr 50: PW transferred to Security forces, Training Bn in SINCH'ON (信川). Received NCO training until 5 Aug 50 when entire battalion was disbanded. PW received orders to report to Security Ministry in P'YONGYANG where he was commissioned Jr Lt.
15 Aug 50: Departed for SEOUL where PW learned he was assigned to the 108th Regt, 29th Bn, HMG Co, 1st Plt.
18 Aug 50: 108th Regt departed SEOUL for P'YONGHAE-RI arriving there after one month travel by foot.
20 Sep 50: Until 26 Sep 50, prepared to defend P'YONGHAE-RI (dug trenches, etc).
26 Sep 50: As the PW was directing his platoon of 27 men in the digging of trenches, ROK troops suddenly appeared and the platoon surrendered (PW was still wondering where they came from and why no warning was ever sounded.)
Organization of Security Bureau's NCO Training Bn in SINCHON:
Under normal conditions the 650 trainees of this NCO Training Bn would have completed their training course in six months and been promoted to Jr Sgt (下士) and up, however, with the outbreak of the war, their training course was cut to five months and at least one-third of the Bn commissioned Jr Lts.
To the best of the PW's knowledge, no other trainees came in with the dissolution of his Training Bn. During the shortened training course, the following subjects were covered (figures given in parenthesis approx No of hours): political science (60 hrs), tactics (up to platoon) (120 hrs), terrain studies (60 hrs), small arms (firing and nomenclature) (120 hrs) and military engineer (trench digging) (60 hrs).

Unit History:
29th Bn, 108th Security Regt, when activated on 10 Aug 50 in SEOUL, was composed of approx 1,600 men. The 56 officers fo this Bn commanded by a Lt Col, were all from N. KOREA. Approx one-third of the enlisted personnel were form N. KOREA and the balance were recruited in SEOUL and vicinity. Nothing was known of the 34th Bn except that it was the only other Bn attached to the 108th Regt and that its station was in ULCHIN. The PW estimated the number of men remaining at the time of his capture was less than one-third of the original strength.
