2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was exceptionally intelligent and very cooperative.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
26 Mar 47: Inducted into RR Security Unit at HAMHUNG (咸興). Received one month basic training.
Apr 47: Transferred to ILSIN-DONG (日新洞) for RR Security duties for three months.
Feb 49: Other places of RR Security duties SONGJIN (城津), TANCH'ON (端川), IWON (利原), CHUNGSAN (曽山) until Feb 49.
Mar 49: Transferred to SARIWON where he participated in one month of battalion traning and maneuvers.
Apr 49: Transferred to KACH'ONG until outbreak of war.
25 Jun 50: Transfferd to MUNSAN (汶山) via ONGJIN (甕津).
5 Aug 50: 9th Rifle Div activated at SEOUL with units of the 38° parallel Security Units, including the 1891st Security Unit (Bn strength) to which PW was assigned. PW promoted to M/Sgt about this time.
15 Aug 50: 1st Regt, 9th Div at INCH'ON until 15 Aug 50 when it departed for the front. (Only 1st, 2nd Regts departed; 3rd Regt remained at INCH'ON.) Travelling via TAEJON, KOCH'ANG (居昌), 1st and 2nd Regts arrived at an unknown point West of the NAKTONG River remaining there until 31 Aug 50.
1 Sep 50: 1st 2nd Regts crossed the NAKTONG River and fought their way to YONGSAN arriving there on 3 Sep 50 vut did not reach MIRYANG, their objective. (Div Arty never crossed the NAKTONG River.) During this battle, the 1st Regt was defeated in tow hours and were forced to withdraw into the hills near YONGSAN. In the hills the 1st Regt found 800 men remained out of a total of 2 or 3,000.
13 Sep 50: The 1st Regt remained in the hills until 13 Sep 50 when it received orders from 9th Div Hqs to rejoin the Div on a hill just East of the NAKTONG River. The PW and three comrades fell asleep and when they awoke the 1st Regt had departed. For the next two weeks they hid in the hills because they were afraid to surrender.
28 Sep 50: Spotted by ROK troops and surrendered.
