REPLACEMENTS:
As of 26 Sep 50, the 12th Div had received a total of 2,500 replacements. All of them were South Korean conscriptees. 70 of them were carrying small arms with them when they joined the 12th Div.

FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
All food supplies were brought from various places "liberated" by the NKPA. Chief food supply center was ANDONG until 30 Aug 50. Food for the 12th Div was brought to ANDONG by trucks from CHONGJU, WONJU, CHUNGJU, TANYANG & MOKKAE. After 30 Aug 50, practically no food supplies were delivered and what little was delivered had been transported on A frames.
Ammo supplies were brought from PYONGYANG to CHECHON by train (until 31 Aug 50) and were transported from CHECHON by truck to ANDONG. After 31 Aug 50, ammo supplies trickled into the 12th Div daily in small quantities (amount unknown) carried on A frames.

ARMOR & ARTILLERY:
Observed 2 x T-70 tanks at ANDONG on 26 Sep 50.
Observed 2 x truck-drawn 76mm field guns at ANDONG on 26 Sep 50.

MORALE:
In the 12th Div, all personnel were very depressed because they received little food (food was of a poor grade), were short of ammo, and the leaders were unable to cope with the UN offensive.

US PW'S:
Observed one US PW at ANGANG NI on 9 Sep 50 and heard that 21 US PW's had been sent, on that same day, to SEOUL. PW heard that there was a POW Camp for US personnel at SEOUL.
Observed one (1) US PW at YECHON during Aug 50.
US PW's are under the jurisdiction of the National Defense Department.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
RR & automobile bridges are destroyed at the northern part of ANDONG and 40 km North of YONGJU (on the TANYANG-YONGJU RR Line and road). PW heard that RR track is broken in 10 different places between PYONGYANG and SEOUL.
PW heard that several Soviet advisors arrived at the 12th Div Hq while it was at PIHAK SAN (mt approx 4 km north of TOSONG-Dong). PW feels certain that the Soviet advisors did join the 12th Div there because the 12th Div Finance Officer asked PW for wheat flour during the 1st part of Sep 50. The Finance Officer requested the flour on the basis that Soviet advisors had joined the Division and did not want to eat rice.
The 31st Regt weapons & ammo supply officer told PW that the 12th Div would exchange their weapons for Soviet weapons during Sep 50 while the Div was at PIHAK SAN. However, the Division was forced to retreat before the new weapons were delivered.
PW has heard nothing about the CCF or Soviet Unit sending troops to aid the NKPA.
