PW was formerly assigned to the 2nd Div. He was hospitalized for over a month and was reassigned to the 35th Brigade. PW was in the 35th Brigade for only 3 hours.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:5 Jan 50 - PW was inducted at HOERYONG (회령). Assigned to 4th Regt Hqs, 2nd Div as a cook. Received 4 hours of infantry training per week.
? Oct 48 - The 2nd Div moved to HAMHUNG (咸興). PW also served here in the 4th Regt Hqs as cook. Promoted to M/Sgt (特務上士) in Dec 49.
10 Feb 50 - Commissioned Jr Lt (少尉) and was assigned to the 2nd Bn, 4th Regt as a supply officer.
o/a 12 Jun 50 - The 2nd Div departed HAMHUNG by train.
25 Jun 50 - The 2nd Div crossed the 38° parallel and engaged in major battles at CH’UNCH’ON (춘천), WONJU (원주) area, CH’ONGJU (청주) area and “CH’U P’UNG-NYONG”.
28 Jul 50 - PW hurt his back at CH’U P’UNG-NYONG and was sent to the 27th Field Hospital (Ⅱ Corps) in SEOUL. Hospitalized until 12 Sep 50.
13 Sep 50 - Approx 200 men, including PW, who recovered from wounds were ordered to reoprt to the forward GHQ (前線司令部) in TAEJON (大田).
o/a 18 Sep 50 - The 200 men reported to the Forward GHQ in TAEJON. PW and four other Jr Lt’s were promoted to Sr Lt (大尉) and were ordered to report to the 35th Brigade Hqs in CHONJU (全州). PW was told that he would take command of the 3rd Co, 1st Bn, 25th Brigade.
23 Sep 50 - The five Sr Lt’s reached CHONJU and reported to the 35th Brigade Hqs. The Chief of Staff of the 35th Brigade was formerly 4th Regt CO. PW was ordered to pick up the Chief of Staff’s belongings which were left at CHINCH’ON (鎭川). PW was at the 35th Brigade Hqs for only 3 hours. PW headed for CHINCH’ON.
26 Sep 50 - PW reached TAEJON and picked up a safe conduct pass. He thought that it would be better for him to surrender.
30 Sep 50 - When PW reached a point 8 km N of KONGJU (公州) he saw a US tank and about 100 US troops. PW want up to them with the safe conduct pass and surrendered.
