2. ASSESSMENT:
The PW seemed to be of average intelligence. No information was available other than his own unit. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
21 Oct 48: Drafted in the NKPA at CHAERYONG (載寧) and assigned to Ordnance Section, 1st Regt, 1st Div as a repair man for damaged rifles, HMGs and LMGs.
18 Jun 50: Promoted to Jr Lt (少尉) at CH'ORWON (鉄原).
1 Jul 50: Transferred to Ⅰ Corps Rear Command Section Ammo Supply depot and assigned as a supply officer transporting ammunition to the Ammo Supply depot from CH'ORWON.
19 Aug 50: Ammo Supply Depot arrived at KUMCH'ON (金泉) via SUWON (水原) and TAEJON (大田). Distributed ammo to 2nd, 4th, 6th and 10th Divs. The above divisions were directly under Ⅰ Corps. The PW stated total of about 80 boxes of rifle ammo and 1,350 76mm arty shells were shipped out per day. There were 600 rounds of rifle ammunition in one box. This ammunition was received by rail at KUMCH'ON from N. KOREA via SEOUL.
25 Sep 50: Ammo Supply depot started a disorderly retreat. The troops were to assemble at TAEJON. When PW arrived at TAEJON the following day no troops were to be seen, so he decided to go home.
30 Sep 50: He surrendered to ROK units 24 km E of POUN (報恩).

Unit Organization and Strength:
Ⅰ Corps Rear Command Section, which was activated at SEOUL in early part of Jul 50, was composed of ammo supply depot, food and clothing supply depot, fuel supply depot and veterinary section. The total strength of the ammo supply depot was estimated to be 160 (all S. Koreans except officers).

Disposition:
There was an ammo dump located adjacent to the CH'ORWON RR station. As of 20 Jun 50 about 4500 boxes filled with various types of ammo were stored there. The ammo was received from USSR by rail. There were boxes filled with ammunition stacked up in the open 1 km W of the POKKAE-RI (福溪里) RR station in P'YONGGANG GUN (平康郡). As of 20 Jun 50 about 18,000 boxes were seen.
He believed that practically all the ammunition was shipped to S. KOREA. He stated that since the outbreak of the war, his ammo supply depot handled a total of 20,000 boxes of ammunition.
