2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and of normal intelligence, but lacked information because of his short period of service. PW was in good mental and physical condition. Reliability - fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
15 Jul 50 - Drafted into the NKPA at P'YONGYANG. Approx 300 men between 20 - 40 years old were drafted and assembled at P'YONGYANG.
16 Jul 50 - The 300 men departed P'YONGYANG by rail, unarmed. The majority of the men han no previous military experience. All of the men were commissioned Jr Lts.
O/a 26 Jul 50 - 200 men arrived SEOUL. Since the railroad was severed at several points, the group was required to switch trains enroute. Travel was accomplished at night only.
O/a Jul - o/a 28 Jul 50 - Approx 150 officers of the group departed SEOUL. PW believes that these officers went to TAEJON. He did not see any combat units in SEOUL but noticed some troops whom he believed were from a Security Unit.
O/a 28 Jul 50 - Remaining 150 men marched from SEOUL towards ANDONG.
O/a 5 Aug 50 - 150 officers arrived TANYANG. Route of march was via SUWON, ICHON, CHANGHOWON-Ni, and CH'UNGJU. Upon arrival at TANYANG, the 150 officers were separated into 50 men groups. One group went to the general area of the east coast, one group to ANDONG, and the other to the general area south of TANYANG.
O/a 6 Aug 50 - PW's group of 50 officers departed TANYANG and marched toward ANDONG.
O/a 11 Aug 50 - Arrived ANDONG via YONGJU.
O/a 21 Aug 50 - 8th Div Hqs with PW's group moved to UISONG.
O/a 1 Sep 50 - 20 officers, PW included, received orders for assignment to 13th Div. Disposition of the remaining 30 officers unknown. Officers assigned to 13th Div departed UISONG.
3 Sep 50 - PW's group of 20 officers arrived at 13th Div CP approx 10 km N of TABU-DONG and were assigned to the Div Hqs and Regts. (6 to Div Hqs, 4 to 21st Regt, others unknown). Units of the 13th Div were deployed as follows: 21st Regt, 1 km SW of TABU-DONG, 23rd Regt immediately on east side of TAEGU-SANGJU highway 1 km SE of TABU-DONG. Disposition of other units unknown. Strength of 13th Div, unknown.
13th Div was flanked to the left by the 1st Div and to the right by the 3rd Div.
3 Sep - 21 Sep 50 - 15th Div lines remained unchanged.
21 Sep 50 - US tanks penetrated 13th Div lines and entered TABU-DONG. The entire 13th Div was disorganized as a result. PW was wounded and separated from his unit.
22 Sep - 27 Sep 50 - PW walked to AMP'YONG-Myon, did not see any NKPA units enroute but heard from a farmer that a large number of NKPA troops were going toward TAM-Ni, approx 20 km S of UISONG, o/a 25 Sep 50.
27 Sep 50 - Induced to surrender by a civilian.

Morale:
Morale of the troops, including Plt, Co, and Bn Commanders, was very low because of the constant air attacks, lack of equipment, food, and rest.

4. GENERAL:
PW Information:
PW observed approx 300 American PsW at P'YONGYANG o/a 11 Jul 50. The PsW arrived at the ity by rail on that day. They were in US uniforms. There were approx 5 wounded who were being carried on litters, the other slightly wounded were aided by their fellow prisoners. PW heard that the prisoners were to be imprisoned in P'YONGYANG, but did not see the prison stockade.
PW observed approx 150 US PsW in SUWON. The prisoners were quartered in a wooden warehouse approx 200 meters from the RR station, direction unknown. PW believed that the PsW were enroute to N. KOREA.

Extent of Usage: The people had faith in their currency and it was used as a standard medium of exchange.
