On the 9th of April, he was drafted into the People’s Government Training School. This school was converted into the 10th Division in June of 1950. The 29th Regiment departed for YONGSONG by train and arrived on the 2nd of August 1950. From here they walked through hills and mountains and arrived in WAEGWAN at 1700 on the 12th of August 1950. In the early morning of the 13th of August, the 2nd battalion walked across the NAKTONG River and attacked the UNITED STATES forces from the northeast flank. He was captured while attending to his buddy, who was wounded in the hip.

American PW’s:1. The Company Commander told them American soldiers were poor fighters, they can be easily beaten just like the corrupted South Korean Army.
2. GI’s are barbarous, they don’t have any mercy, they kill all North Korean prisoners.
Miscellaneous:1. Prisoner heard that the North and South Korean people are whispering that if the Americans do not come to their aid soon, they will starve to death, because the North Korean Army has been taking away their staple foodstuffs. If any person gets caught whispering about the North Korean Army, he or she will be killed on the spot without a trial.
2. Military training is compulsory to the men from 18 to 35 in the occupied areas, also woman from 17 to 25 years old. Instructors are handpicked sergeants of the North Korean Army.
3. Prisoner heard from a soldier in his company, who had had experience, that in North Korea there are trained comfort woman.
