Evaluation:
Cooperative but information limited because PW was in Army only 1½ months and PW travelled only at night.

Military History:
Inducted 3 Jul 50 at SARIWON (沙里院). Trained as rifleman at SARIWON 12 days but never fired a weapon.
Departed SARIWON 26 Jul 50 - railroad - arrived SEOUL 30 Jul 50
Departed SEOUL 30 Jul 50 - marched - arrived MUN’GYONG (聞慶) (1108-1543) 10 Aug 50.
Departed MUN’GYONG 10 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KUNWI 14 Aug 50. Issued rifle, 8 rounds. Departed KUNWI 15 Aug 50- marched - began fighting against ROK soldiers about 5 km southeast of KUNWI, 17 0800 K Aug 50. When the 9th Co found ROK soldiers surrounding them, 9th Co fought their way out, but PW and one other pvt in the rear wre captured.

Observed none.

Weapons and Personnel:
9th Co had 180 men originally. 1st Plt had 45 men originally. Riflemen armed with M1899/30 rifles, 8 rounds. 9th Co - 4 x DP LMGs, 3 PPsh submachine gun. No mortars observed. Casualties 9th Co, 3rd Bn - 148 men, 3 x DP LMGs lost. No replacement of men or equipment. Replacement of weapons and ammo was supposed to have been sent from the rear but did not arrived (17 Aug 50).

Armor:
Observed 2 x medium tanks about 2 km southeast of KUNWUI, 16 0900 K Aug 50.

Artillery:
None observed.

Vehicles:
Observed about 30 x 2½ trucks, midnight, 14 Aug 50 southern edge of KUNWI. Contents of trucks unknown.

Supplies:
Received potatoes and barley balls for food. Men allowed to eat as many potatoes as they wished. Given one barley ball every two days. PW supplemented his ration by confiscating a little rice from farmers. PW was told by squad ldr that supplies of rice were sent from the rear but were destroyed en route, by aerial bombs. PW told that unless ammo arrived from rear, men would be unable to fight more than one day.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 1st Div - T’AEGU. No gas training received. PW observed no gas equipment. No further information.
