Evaluation:
Cooperative, but not very observant. Information limited due to short period of military service.

Military History:
Inducted 14 Jul 50, at HOERYONG (會寧). Did not receive training. Approximately 1,000 men recently inducted into the N. Korean Army left HOERYONG 15 Jul 50, by train and reached YANGYANG (襄陽), N. KOREA 20 Jul 50. Approximately 500 men incouding PW were attached to the 1st Regt of the 8th Div. PW did not know what happened to the other 500 men.
Departed YANGYANG 21 Jul 50 - marched - arrived CHECH’ON - 26 Jul 50.
Departed CHECH’ON - 26 Jul 50 - marched - arrived ANDONG - 28 Jul 50.
The 3rd Bn crossed the NAKTONG River 1 Aug 50. The 3rd Bn remained in mountains located approximately 8 km ENE of UISONG until 11 Aug 50.
PW and 2 others were separated from their unit 11 Aug 50, after the ROK troops counterattacked. They were captured 1300, 11 Aug 50 by the ROK troops while eating in a village located approximately 8 km ENE of UISONG.

Foreign Elements:
PW heard that there was an unknown number of N. Koreans who trained with the CCF engaged in this war.

Weapons and Personnel:
Squad - 10 men: Squad leader and asst leader armed with submachine guns, and rest were equipped with M1891/30 rifles.
Platoon - 40 men: 1 LMG and 1 HMG.
Company - 120 men, 4 LMG’s 4 HMG’s and 1 x 82-mm Mortar.

Capability of Unit:
Morale was low due to shortage of food and long marches.

Armor:
PW observed 4 x T-34 tanks at ANDONG (1160-1520) on or about 28 July 50.

Vehicles:
4 x YAG-4 trucks (each truck haled a 160-mm mortar) accompanied the 1st Regt from YANGYANG, N. KOREA.

Supplies:
PW stated that only the officers ate rice. Troops are barley and potatoes twice a day.
Each man had approximately 200 rounds which had been issued at YANGYANG.

Enemy Objective:
Objective of 3rd Bn, 1st Regt - UISONG.
