Limited information. Captured in civilian clothes to avoid being detected by aircraft. Referred to JAG & CIC.
Military History:Inducted 3 Jul 50 at SINUIJU. PW’s unit (1,000 men) trained for two days on infiltration tactics. These 1,000 men were replacements for the 1,000 men who departed SINUIJU 11 Jul 50, by rail, arriving in SEOUL 14 Jul 50. Departed SEOUL as a replacement unit 15 Jul 50. Marched to TAEJON, arrived 29 or 30 Jul 50. Replacement personnel distributed to the units in TAEJON. PW was assigned to 4th Div.
PW departed TAEJON with the 6th Co (200 men) to join the 15th Regt somewhere along the west bank of the NAKTONG River. Arrived at destination 4 Aug 50. Hid on a mountain for 6 days. Crossed the NAKTONG River 11 Aug 50 at 2400 by raft (Crossing point unknown). PW states that about 350 men crossed the river that night, and hid in a valley. They stayed there for four days. PW and 3 others were up the mountain as lookouts for the unit. PW and the three others were relieved as lookouts and came down the mountain to a village nearby to beg breakfast. In this village PW and 2 other men borrowed civilian clothes from the villagers and changed into them. They stayed in the village during the morning and were captured by Americans. Reason given for changing into civilian clothes was that they were afraid to be seen by aircraft.
Armor:5 x T-34/85 tanks, last seen on west bank of NAKTONG River in a draw nesr a mountain where PW crossed river on 10 Aug 50.
