1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: KIM Hak Song (金鶴成) (김학성)
RANK: Sgt
AGE: 28
UNIT: 15th Div, 8th Regt, Signal Co
DUTY: Lineman
INTERROGATOR: HORISHIGE (ATIS)


2. GENERAL:
PW had information only below division level. PW heard from his fellow soldiers that the largest communication unit was a regt which was organized at P’YONGYANG in 1949. This communication regt was commanded by a Col (Name unknown). Details unknown. The highest ranking officer in the communication service was a Sr Col (name unknown).
Unit from Div to Bn size provided their own communications. Companies depended on Bn for communication. Communication personnel were trained in this field only. Most of the communication personnel were trained after they were attached to the units. There were no military communication schools in N. KOREA, however, PW heard that the military communication school would be established in 1950.
Most of the communication equipment was Soviet made, There also was some Japanese made equipment.

4. WIRE:
TAM field telephones were used in the units. The telephone system was installed by the NKPA.
