3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Inducted 23 Jul 50 into "Volunteer Army" at SEOUL. Trained as rifleman between SEOUL to SUDONG (23 Jul - 27 Aug 50). Practice firing and rifle drill were conducted during this period. 2,000 replacements departed SEOUL 23 Jul - marched - arrived SUWON 26 Jul 50, At SUWON the 2,000 men were separated into groups, PW's unit had 60 men, Whereabouts of other groups unknown. 60 men departed SUWON 27 Jul - marched - arrived UMSONG (陰城) 7 Aug 50. Departed UMSONG 7 Aug 50 - marched - arrived SANGJU (尙州) 17 Aug 50. Departed SANGJU 17 Aug 50 - marched - arrived SUDONG 27 Aug 50.
At SUDONG 60 men were distributed to units. 25 men were assigned to 3rd Plt of 1st Div, 2nd Regt, 3rd Bn, 1st Co on 27 Aug 50. Separated from unit at 2 km S of SUDONG on 0700 1 Sep 50. Captured 1 1200 Sep 50.

Weapons and Personnel:
Plt - 25 men, Sqd - 12 men. Riflemen armed with US M-1 rifle, 60 rounds, 2 grenades, Sqd ldr submachine gun, plt ldr TT M1933 TOKAREV Pistol. One DP Light machine gun in plt, 216 rounds. 1 x MAXIM HMG M1910. 3 boxes of ammo in Co at SUDONG on 30 Aug 50.
Artillery:
8 x 122mm M1910/30 Howitzers at SUDONG 30 Aug 50.
Vehicles:
PW observed 3 GMC heavy trucks at SUDONG (trucks USA) on 28, 29, 30 Aug 50. Trucks hauled 122mm LMG, HMG and M-1 rifle’s ammo.
Supplies:
Average of two rice balls a day. No food delivered after 27 Jul 50. Lived off the land.
Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 1st Div was TAEGU (大邱). PW’s unit received North Korean newspapers every two weeks. PW observed 150 US PsW and 50 S. Korean PsW marching toward SEOUL 4 km S of SUWON 27 Jul 50.
