3. DISPOSITION OF UNIT:
No information

4. ESTIMATED PRESENT STRENGTH:
The 657 Unit is said to have lost 50% of its troops. (wounded or killed)

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 26 Jul 50, with several hundred others. On 1 Aug 50, one regiment of South Korean conscriptees left PYONGTAEK for CHONAN. From CHONAN, the South Korean conscriptees marched by night through CHOHIWON, TAEJON, CHINJU, and arrived at PYONGCHON. PYONGCHON, the regiment was broken up and the troops were sent to various sub-units of the 6th Division as replacements. The informant and six others were sent to the 657 Unit as medics.
The 657 Unit moved by night from PYONGCHON to TONGCHON, and arrived in the mountains near HAMAN.

6. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLY:
The troops lived off the land.
Ammo supply route, dumps, etc were unknown.

7. REPLACEMENTS:
The Sixth Division replacements were mostly conscripted South Koreans.
The troops did not have medical facilities. The troops did carry first aid packets. The medics did not have bandages but used strips of cloth in place of bandages.

8. ENEMY INTENTIONS:
The troops were told to fight to the last man.
The informant heard that the 6th Division's mission was to take PASAN (not PUSAN).

9. MORALE:
The morale of the troops is said to be very low, especially among the south Korean conscriptees, because of lack of training, forced conscription into the army, lack of food, fatigue, fear of air attacks, and fear of death.

10. SOUTH KOREAN SENTIMENTS:
Most of the people in the newly occupied areas were anti-communist with the exception of a few who called themselves the Peopie’s Committee.

11. INTERROGATORS REMARKS:
The informant, although very cooperative, has limited information because he was a south Korean conscriptee and was not allowed freedom of movement by the North Korean Army.
