Military History:
PW was inducted 28 Jul 50 at SARIWON (沙里院). Approx 1,800 men from 16 yrs to 40 yrs of age were inducted from HWANGHAE DO (黃海道) 25 Jul 50 to 30 Jul 50. PW and 1,800 replacements, unarmed, left SARIWON without military training 4 Aug 50 by rail - arrived SINMAK (新幕) 4 Aug 50, Departed SINMAK 4 Aug 50 by rail - arrived 8 km N of SEOUL RR
station. PW states that they had to march to SEOUL because the railway had been cut by aerial bombs. Arrived SEOUL 18 Aug 50, On same day, 1,800 replacements were divided equally. PW and 900 men left SEOUL. However other half remained in SEOUL, disposition unknown, marched across HAN railroad bridge which had been repaired with timbers, Impassable by train. Arrived CH'UNGJU (忠州) o/a 15 Aug 50.
Departed CH'UNGJU same day - marched - arrived HAMCH’ANG (咸昌) o/a 17 Aug 50.
Departed HAMCH’ANG same day - marched - arrived SANGJU (尙州) o/a 19 Aug 50.
Departed SANGJU same day - marched - arrived NAKTONG-NI (洛東里) o/a 20 Aug 50. Remained at NAKTONG-NI 2 days on account of rain. 400 men remained.
Departed NAKTONG-NI o/a 23 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KUNWI (軍威) o/a 27 Aug 50. Remained overnight.
Departed KUNWI 28 Aug 50 - marched south 12 km and joined 2nd Regt 29 Aug 50.
Here PW and 300 men were assigned to 3rd Bn, Disposition of other 200 men unknown. M1899/30 rifle (rld), 200 rounds, 2 grenade issued per man 30 Aug 50. PW and his regt marched through mountains for 2 days. 1 Sep 50 PW and one other man went 3 km to village for drinking water. There PW and other man were captured by ROK troops 1500 1 Sep 50. Place unknown. 2nd Regt was not in combat as of 1 Sep 50.
