2. ASSESSMENT:
Seems fairly intelligent and spoke freely. Seems fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Inducted 1 Feb 46 at CHISHI, MANCHURIA. Trained guerrilla tactics with the constabulary unit of CHISHI until Jul 49. During Jul 49 a division composed of Koreans in the CCF was activated at MUKDEN, MANCHURIA. Uni was known as 166th Div (present 6th Div). Two other divisions 165th (present 5th Div, at CHANGCHUN, MANCHURIA) and 164th Divisions composed of Koreans with CCF were activated Jul 49. These units entered N. KOREA Jul 49. After entering N. KOREA the 6th Div was stationed in SINUIJU. Regts were stationed as follows: 13th (1st) Regt SARIWON, 14th (2nd) HAEJU, 15th (3rd) Regt CHAERYONG.
Apr 50 6th Div Hqs moved to SARIWON. 13th Regt departed SARIWON 19 Jun 50 and arrived just north of 38th parallel near KAESONG. Entered KAESONG 26 Jun 50. Moved south via YONGDUNGP’O, INCH’ON, SUWON, P’YONGTAEK, CH'ONAN, DONGJU, TAEJON, KUMSAN, CHONJU, NAMWON, KURYE, HADONG, CHINJU, PAMSONG to CHINDONG-NI. Suffered heavy losses at CHINGDONG-NI and retreated to TONGCHON-NI. Informant deserted his unit and surrendered to US forces carrying a surrender leaflet.

T/O & E of PW’s Unit:
6th Div (Code No 655) composed of 13th Rifle Regt (also called 1st, Code No 657), 14th Rifle Regt (also called 2nd, Code No 659), 15th Rifle Re~ (also called 3rd, Code No 661), Arty Regt
(Code No 663), Medical Bn (8 doctors, 20 nurses, and 30 aidsmen - three trucks), and a guard Bn (armed with rifles).
13th Rifle Regt was composed of three (3), rifle Bns, air artillery unit (8 x 45mm gun and 4 x 76mm guns) Headquarters Co, an Engineer Plt, a Medic Plt (3 doctors, 20 men) a Recon Plt, a Signal Co (wireless and telephones approx 100 men), a Guard Co (110 men all armed with SMG’s), a detail plt (衞戊), and a 120mm Mortar Unit (2 x 120mm mortars). 3rd Rifle Bn composed of three (3) rifle Co’s (90-100 men 12 x LMG’s, 12 x SMG’s 1 x HMG, and rifles - each issued 100 rounds). Heavy weapons Co (6 x HMGs and 6 x 85mm mortars).

Disposition of above unit: 28 Aug 50
13th Regt’l CP located in three (3) huts located 1 km E of TONGCHON-NI at the foot of a ridge near a reservoir. 3rd Bn was also located in that area. 2nd Bn located to the west of regimental CP.

Estimated strength of above unit:
Informant believes that less than 20% of the original member of 6th Div was with the unit 28 Aug 50. Ranks were tilled up to 70% with S. Korean conscripts.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 13th Regt HAMAN.

Morale:
Morale very low because unit attacked HAMAN four times and was repulsed each time with heavy losses. Promised tank and artillery support never materialized, Troops seemed happy every time leaflets were dropped. Leaflets were gathered by communist groups so that troops would not be able to pick them up. Informant believed that leaflets have great influence upon the troops. Informant carried a surrender leaflet when he surrendered.

Replacements:
17,000 S. Koreans conscripted into the N. Korean Army departed SEOUL, 40 joined PW's company as replacement 18 Aug 50 at TONGCHON-NI. 20 joined PW's company 21 Aug 50 at TONGCHON-NI.

4. GENERAL:
Armor:
Hearsay: Three (3) tanks camouflaged with grass located 4 km south of TONGCHON-NI 27 Aug 50.

Food and Ammo supplies:
No food received. Lived off the land. Ammo stored in RR tunnels. Last ammo supply point located in a RR tunnel East of GUNMOKU (1133.8-1364.6).

American PsW:
Approx 60 US PsW seen on hill 518 (KYORYONGSAN) near NAMWON (1030.8-1392.2) being marched north guarded by 20 NKPA soldiers. PsW were all without fatigue shirt.

NKAF and Navy:
Hearsays NK AF which formerly was composed one wing is now composed of two (2) wings.

Civilian Attitude:
S. Koreans in captured territory were against the HK Army because NK troops looted each town.

Special Intelligence:
Hearsay: 20,000 comforters were brough to N. KOREA from CHINA.
Hearsay: Medical personnel from ALBANIA are at present in N. KOREA to take care of the wounded NK troops.
