Co-operative, but due to low intelligence and limited military service, information limited and unreliable.
Military History:Inducted 20 Jul 50, SEOUL, Received 20 days of basic infantry training at SEOUL.
10 Aug 50, PW and approx 1,000 conscripts departed SEOUL - marched - arrived WONJU (原州) 13 Aug 50.
Departed WONJU-13 Aug 50 - marched - arrived CHECH'ON (堤川) 15 Aug 50
Departed CHECH'ON - 16 Aug 50 - marched - arrived TANYANG (丹陽) 18 Aug 50.
Departed TANYANG - 19 Aug 50 - marched - arrived ANDONG (安東) 24 Aug 50.
Departed ANDONG 24 Aug 50, after marching 32 km S of ANDONG, PW's unit (1,000 conscripts) was bombed and strafed by US aircrafts 0900 25 Aug 50. The casualties sustained by this attack, unknown. However, believe many men were killed or wounded.
Troops arrived at UISONG (義城) 29 Aug 50.
Departed UISONG 29 Aug 50 - arrived UIHUNG - 31 Aug 50. At UIHUNG (31 Aug 50) the 1,000 conscripts were assigned to various units of the 8th Div. PW and approx 240 men were assigned to 1st Regt, 8th Div.
After the replacements were assigned the regts of the Div separated. The 1st Regt departed UIHUNG 31 Aug 50, and moved toward a mountain 8 km SE of UIHUNG. While marching toward the mountain 1700 31 Aug 50, PW unit (1st Regt) was attaced by ROK 15th Div. As soon as the firing started PW deserted his unit and hid.
0300 1 Sep 50, PW surrendered to ROK Troops, who occupied the mountain.
Weapons and Personnel:Co - 120 men, Plt - 42 men, sqd - 10 men.
Riflemen armed with M1891/30 rifles, 42 rounds per man, 6 grenades per sqd. Sqd ldrs, sub-machine guns, 1 x 71 round drum, Officers, pistols.
Inf Co - 120 men, 12 x DP LMGs, 12 x Submachine Guns, Other details unknown.
Armor:Observed 4 x T-34/85 Medium tanks, 8 km SE of UIHUNG, 31 Aug 50.
Artillery:3 x 76-mm Guns, 8 km SE of UIHUNG, 31 Aug 50.
Vehicles:No Information
Supplies:PW received average of one meal per day.
Food was looted from farmers.
Ammunition last received at UIHUNG, 31 Aug 50. 42 rounds per man.

Enemy Intentions:Objective of 8th Div - YONGCH'ON (永川) (1190 - 1450)
Additional Information:Hearsay: All regts of 8th Div were located 4 km SE of UIHUNG Mountain (1160-1470).
