Reliability - fair.
a. Description of Flags:
There were two flags in PW company. These two flags are the same size. One is white, the other red. They measure approx 14 inches x 14 inches. There are no designs on these two flags.
b. Use of Flags:
These flags are used at company and battalion level for contacting other units and transmitting commands.
c. Special Training:
Personnel do not receive any special training.
d. Manuals:
Manuals or regulations are not used as a basis for signal flag communications.
e. Other Equipment:
Small horns are sometimes used by company leaders, instead of signal flags.
f. Use of Flags at Night:
The flag system is used only during the day.
g. Personnel Handling Flags:
The company and battalion leaders use the flags. However, under certain conditions, the political and assistant political, and assistant company leaders, are authorized to use them.
h. Deception:
This system of signal flag communication is not used for the purpose of deceiving or confusing enemy forces.
