2. ASSESSMENT:
Unintelligent, fairly cooperative. Reliability - fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
5 Jan 47 - Volunteered into NKA at HOERYONG (会寧), assigned to 2nd Div, 4th Regt, SMG Co, 3rd Plat. Received training for 22 months.
10 Oct 48 - 4th Regt departed for HAMHUNG (咸興), and arrived by train a day later. Received training.
3 Jun 50 - Departed for P’YONGYANG (平壤), and arrived there a day later to receive his promotion to Jr Lt. Reassigned to 10th Div, 25th Regt, 3rd Bn, 7th Co, 3rd Plat as platoon leader. 10th Div was organized Mar 50.
8 Jun 50 - Departed for SUKCH'ON (肅川). Trained incoming conscripts for one and a half months.
20 Jul 50 - 10th Div was ordered to battle.
20 Aug 50 - Arrived at the front (via NAKTONG River). Patrolled the west bank of NAKTONG River for about a month.
20 Sep 50 - 10th Div, due to lack of food and ammo supplies, retreated North.
5 Nov 50 - Arrived at CHONBANG-NI (前方里) via mountainous route. Here, 10th Div received approx 2,000 recruits, gathered from the YANGGU (楊口) area.
5 Dec 50 - 10th Division began to move toward ANDONG (安東). PW, due to lack of officers, was promoted to Sr Lt.
20 Jan 51 - Arrived in the vicinity of ANDONG, and for 20 days, 10th Div searched for the rear of UN forces. Missions were to infiltrate UN lines and destroy convoys in the rear.
10 Feb 51 - PW and 24 others were captured while being treated for illness in a mountain shack.

h. Intentions:
10th Division was to infiltrate UN forces in the vicinity of ANDONG, destroying supplies, convoys, etc, in the UN rear.

i. Morale:
Low: Due to high losses during air attacks. Also because of hiding in foxholes during the day and forced marches during night. No sleep, and scarcity of food.

l. Supply:
Each man carried 3 days rations, 250 rounds of ammo for small arms, and one set of extra clothing.

m. Weapons Feared Most:
(1) - Strafing
(2) - Napalm bomb
(3) - Tank fire
(4) - Artillery fire

4. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
Despite the fact that PW had seen leaflets and intended to surrender after he read the leaflet, he was in doubt if the contents were true. Soldiers were repeatedly told that if and when they surrendered they would be shot on the spot by the UN forces.
