ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO 4091 21 March 1951
FIELD REPORT (521 MISDI 0465) 20 February 1951

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
NAME: FU Ming Ho
RANK: Soldier
UNIT: CCF 112th Div, 336th Regt, Hq Co
PLACE OF CAPTURE: CS 518394
DATE & BY WHOM CAPTURED: 12 Feb 51 by 7th Cav

2. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Surrendered because could not endure the heavy arty shelling.
b. Observed leaflets on two occasions: once about a month ago in N KOREA scattered along the road, second time in vic of KYONGAN NI.
c. Did not bother to read the first time, but read leaflets picked up near KYONGAN NI.
d. Believes only 30% of CCF troops can read and understand leaflets.
e. Slightly influenced desire to surrender, but no opportunity. Bombed and strafed during the day and possibility of being shot when moving about at night.
f. Heard no comment from other soldiers.
g. Officers tell men they will be killed if captured or surrender to the enemy.
h. Leaflets should be written in simple conversational form and not in newspaper or literature fashion. Stress good treatment specifically, such as good food, warm place to sleep, etc, also safe repatriation after end of war.
f. Has heard voice broadcast, Sounded like a foreigner speaking Chinese, not too clear. Voice broadcast more effective than leaflet in that it is understood by most troops. Air strafing immediately after voice broadcast is bad psychology. Co CO just laughed upon hearing the broadcast.
