3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Jul 48 – Volunteered for service with the CNA and assigned to the 2d Co, 1st Bn, 26th Regt, 58th Div, 52d Army.
25 Feb 48 – 58th Div surrendered to the CCF 4th Field Army at YINGKOU-HSIEN.
Apr 48 – CNA 58th Div was redesignated the Ind 5th Div (■五師) of the CCF at LAOTOUKOU (老頭溝), YENCHI-HSIEN (延吉縣), CHILIN-SHENG.
Apr 48-Jun 49 – Ind 5th Div received 14 months political training at LAOTOUKOU. In Oct 48, the 5th Ind Div of the CCF was redesignated the 167th Div of the 50th Army at LAOTOUKOU, YENCHI-HSIEN.
Jul 49 – 167th Div moved to TANGAYANG-HSIEN (當陽縣), HUPEI-SHENG (湖北省) and engaged in combat with the CNA. 167th Div was redesignated the 150th Div, 50th Army of CCF AT TANGYANG-HSIEN.
Aug 49 – 150th Div, 50th Army of the CCF moved to CHIENYANG-HSIEN (■陽縣), SSUCHUAN-SHENG (四川省) and engaged in combat with the CNA.
Mar 50 – Unit moved to CHUNGHSIANG-HSIEN (鐘样縣), HUPEI-SHENG (湖北省) to aid in farming and building dikes to prevent floods.
Jun 50 – Unit moved to JUNAN-HSIEN (汝南縣), HONAN-SHENG (河南省) for rest.
2 Oct 50 – Proceeded to HAILUNG (海龍), LIAONING-SHENG (遼寧省), MANCHURLA.
10 Oct 50 – Moved to CHAOYANGCHEN (朝陽鎭), LIAONING-SHENG, MANCHURIA.
25 Oct 50 – Moved to ANTUNG (安東), MANCHURIA.
2 Nov 50 – Crossed YALU River to KOREA.
2 Nov – 10 Dec 50 – Unit moved from PAENGMA (白馬) to SONCH’ON (宣川) to CHONGJU (定州) to P’YONGYANG, KOREA.
3 Jan – 1 Feb 51 – From P’YONGYANG moved to KAESONG (開城), SEOUL and SUWON (水原).
3 Feb 51 – Moved to KUMNANGJANG (金良場) and engaged in combat with UN forces.
6 Feb 51 – PW was wounded in combat and captured by UN troops at KUMNANGJANG.

HO, Erh Shon (何原■), CO, 449th Regt, about 35 – 40, Southerner (南方人). A former member of the 60th Army, CNA.
FU, Lien Ho (傳蓮和), Manchurian, Asst Regt CO, about 35. Formerly an assistant Regt CO in the 58th Div, 52d Army, CNA.
CHANG, Chan Yu (張春兪), Regt Political Commissar, about 32, Northerner (北方人), A communist.
WANG, Wei Liang (王維良), Chief of Regt Political Department (政治主任), about 30, from HOPEI-SHENG (河北省). An old CCF member.
WANG, Chia Shan (王家善), Manchurian, CO, 58th Div, a former member of 52d Army, CNA.
HO, Shu Fan (贺樹蕃), Asst Div CO, about 43, Northerner (北方人). An old communist.

d. Bugle Calls:
PW was able to describe bugle calls which are uniformly used in the CCF. PW always used the following bugle calls when fighting against the CNA. Bugle calls were not often used in KOREA because of fear of detection of positions.

e. Psychological Warfare:
PW was wounded and captured by UN troops.
Saw UN leaflets and heard loudspeaker broadcasts.
Leaflets appeared to be about 5” in length, 3” wide and printed with red Chinese characters. Leaflets read as follows:
“To all CCF soldiers who are fighting in KOREA: Immediately lay down your weapons and surrender to the UN Forces, because you are only wasting your lives to fight in this war. We will give you kind treatment and feed you well”.
Heard loudspeaker broadcasts from the air in Mandarin Chinese.
PW was very doubtful after he read the leaflets. He thought it was only propaganda. He was told to destroy the leaflets whenever he saw them.
Heard the loudspeaker broadcasts with the same attitude.
