2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative. Information appears reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
20 Sep 50 conscripted into the NK Volunteer Corps as a private at HAMPYONG (BP 7382). PW ordered to TAMYANG (CQ 1609) and assigned to 33d Brigade.
29 Sep 50 33d Brigade retreated northward from TAMYANG. Initially retreated along the mountain from TAMYANG to HWACHON (CT 8717), via KUMHWA (CT 6438), PYONGGANG (CT 5253), and finally along an unknown mountain. 15 Nov 50 Brigade arrived 10 km NE of HUICH’ON (BV 6749) and rested for 15 days. Then absorbed into 6th Div, V Corps. PW assigned to 13th Regt, 6th Div.
PW was issued a rifle, 100 rd of ammo, winter clothing and boots.
4 Dec 50, Div marched southward. During late Dec 50, 6th Div arrived HWACH’ON (CT 3717) via YONGWON (BV 8912), MAENGNAN (BV 8691) PYONGGANG (CT 5253) and KUMHWA (CT 6438). Div rested few days and each riflemen issued 100 rd of ammo.
15 Jan 51, Div marched to WONJU (DS 0734)
19 Jan 51, Div marched to SANGO-NI (DS 1495) and rested for 1½ months.
7 Mar 51 Div moved, and PW bn arrived separately at HYONCHON-NI (DS 2848) 9 Mar 51 and engaged a ROK unit. PW captured in this engagement.

b. Location and Activities of Unit (7 Mar 51):
13th Regt CP was 4 km N of HYONCHON- NI (DS 1495) 7 Mar 51.
15th Regt was 2 km NW of HYONCHON-NI. PW heard 7th Div, V Corps had been located northwestward from 13th Regt.
At this time, 6th Div was moving to another position.

6th Div: 13th (code: 657), 14th (code: 659), 15th (Code: 661) rifle regt.

c. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Troops did not carry rations but acquired food from villagers. Usually, could get two meals a day, but always hungry.
Issued 1 rifle and 100 rounds of ammo, winter clothing and boots 10 km NE of HUICH’ON (BV 6749). No supply dumps there.

d. MORALE AND BATTLE EFFECTIVENESS:
Morale low because NKA again fighting a defensive war.

e. Medical:
Most troops in PW company had frozen feet but were not serious.
No medicine applied.

f. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
Had not seen any UN leaflets.
