1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, but power of observation poor, and not too exacting.
Information should be evaluated accordingly.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Inducted into CNA Nov 47 at YINGKOU (營口) and assigned to 58th Div, 646th Regt.
25 Feb 48 surrendered with entire 58th Div to CCF at YINGKOU. Departed with 58th Div to YENCHI HSIEN (延吉縣), and arrived after 15 days of marching. Here, 58th Div was redesignated as Independent 167th Div, PW assigned to division’s Guard Co. The division then underwent a period of political training for 15 months.
Dec 48, the Ind 167th division was redesignated as 150th Div and became a component of 50th Army.
Jun 49, departed with 50th Army to HUPEI SHENG (湖北省), arriving after a month of travelling. For next 14 months 50th Army conducted mopping up operations in this area.
Oct 50, departed with Army by rail to HAILUNGHSIEN (海龍縣), arriving five days later and remained there preparatory to entering Korea.
8 Nov 50, moved by rail to ANTUNG (安東), arriving two days later.
11 Nov 50, during darkness, 50th Army crossed YALU River and arrived SINUIJU (XE1839) 12 Nov 50.
13 Nov 50 PW departed with 150th Div to CHOLSAN (XE4303), arriving after three days of marching. After five days rest, Div departed southward, via mountain routes, and arrived CHO-RI (CS4957) 27 Feb 51. Prior to arriving 150th Div had been engaged in combat once S of SEOUL during mid Feb 51.
6 Mar 51, deserted his unit and voluntarily surrendered to US 24th RCT at YEBINGSAN (CS4556) the following day.

b. Location and Activities of Unit:
150th Div was to defend YEBINGSAN (CS4556) area.

d. Food and Ammo and Other Supplies:
Food was obtained by confiscation. Meals were available twice a day, in sufficient amounts. Ammo supply was once replenished at YEBINGSAN (CS4556) 26 Feb 51.
HMG Co received 1,400 rd of HMG ammo Feb 51.

e. Signal:
Bn and higher echelon units used telephones; runners used in lower echelon units.

f. Morale:
Morale of troops was low because of constant UN air attacks and also of having no confidence in an ultimate victory.

g. Psychological Warfare:
Voluntarily surrendered because he had no desire to fight. Saw UN leaflets which urged him to surrender, promising that he would be taken to PUSAN where he would receive good treatment and food. PW believed this and surrendered immediately. At present, he is doubtful about the future treatment he will receive because thus far he has received an insufficient amount of food.
