3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
10 Sep 50 - Inducted at SARIWON and attached to 998th Regt and received approx one month of military training.
Oct 50 - 998th Regt departed SARIWON.
Nov 50 - Arrived within 20km S of KANGGYE (BA 9838) and was reassigned to 1st Co, 1st Bn, 1st Regt, 15th Div, III Corps and received about 5 weeks of military and political training. 1st Regt received complete winter clothing issue. PW heard 2d and 3d Regt of 15th Div were being trained in vicinity of KANGGYE.
Dec 50 - 1st Regt departed KANGGYE on foot with 6 days rations.
Dec 50 - Arrived HUICH’ON (BV 6959), departed immediately for TOKCH’ON.
Dec 50 - Arrived TOKCH’ON proceeded through mountain passes for SONGCH’ON (BU 6047).
Dec 50 - Arrived SONGCH’ON. The Regt departed heading east, through mountain passes.
Jan 51 - 1st Regt arrived YANGYANG (DT 6613). After a day’s rest, departed for INJE (DT 2814)
20 Jan 51 - Arrived INJE.
16 Feb 51 - Arrived HONGCH’ONG. Departed through mountain passes after one day’s rest.
19 Feb 51 - Arrived HOENGSONG
24 Feb 51 - Arrived 3km NE of PYONGCHANG. The 1st Bn was dispatched to battle position. 1st Bn engaged UN Forces for about 7 hr. 1st Bn retreated. PW surrendered at 5km NE of PYONGCHANG.

1st Regt received rifle ammo at TOKCH’ON. PW was issued 45 rd of rifle ammo. In vicinity of PYONGCHANG each man was issued 2 hand grenades 24 Feb 51.
