a. Chronology:
13 Aug 50 - Inducted at CHINAMP’O and assigned to #2 Repl Regt (11,000) of 15th Div.
25 Aug 50 - Repl Regt departed CHINAMP’O for UISONG (DR7272), S KOREA. Travelled on train to KAESONG, and from KAESONG on foot to UISONG.
11 Oct 50 - Repl Regt arrived UISONG. Following day PW deserted due to UN offensive.
3 Nov 50 - PW arr P’YONGYANG and stayed at his home.
13 Nov 50 - Conscripted again into NKA. Travelled to KUIHYONG (S of MANPOJIN).
25 Nov 50 - PW assigned to 15th Div, 2d Regt, 3d Bn, 2d Co, 1st Plat, 2d Sqd. Received training.
6 Jan 51 - 15th Div departed KUIHYONG for YONGWOL via KANGNUNG. Travelled on foot.
22 Feb 51 - 15th Div arrived YONGWOL.
23 Feb 51 - 15th Div engaged UN troops for 3 hr. That night 15th Div departed YONGWOL.
24 Feb 51 - 2d Regt arrived 4 km N of PYONGCHANG.
26 Feb 51 - 3d Bn engaged UN troops. PW captured with 2 fellow soldiers.
b. Organization, Strength and Weapons: (as of 26 Feb 51)
15th Div had 1st, 2d, 3d Regt, and service units.
2d Regt composed of 1st, 2d, 3d Bn, a Recon Plat, two Engr Plat, a Gd Plat, a Med Co, a Com Plat.
3d Bn composed of 1st, 2d, and 3d Co, and a Med Plat.
2d Co - 1st, 2d, and 3d Plat.
1st Plat - 1st, 2d, and 3d Sqd.
2d Sqd (6 men) - 5 Russ rifles w/100 rd ea, 1 PPsh SMG w/2 drums, 2 hand grenades each.
1st Plat (16 men) - 5 PPsh SMG w/2 drums ea, 2 Russ LMG w/300 rd ea, 12 Russ rifles w/100 rd ea. Some men carried two wpn.
c. Supply:
Ammo: Initial issue 25 Dec 50. No resupply.
d. Replacement:
1 Feb 51 - located just S of the 38th (near KANGUNG) One ROK.
e. Code Names:
15th Div: “MOYANGSAN”
2d Regt: “NAKTONG GAN”
3d Bn: “KURUMNAMU”
2d Co: “ 〃 ”
These code names have never changed since PW joined unit.
f. Morale:
Low, due to no complete training, afraid to die, fighting a losing cause.
g. Captured Equipment:
3d Bn: 2 US M-1 rifles, 1 carbine
h. Medical:
3d Bn, 5 men suffered from high fever and complained they were cold. (2 Feb 51 near 38th Parallel).
i. CP:
Usually 20 km apart from Div to Regt
4 km apart from Regt to Bn, but in some cases, in the same area.
