1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW company was scattered on the mountain slope (DS 0949) facing the main road when attacked by 1st Marines. Tactical information limited. Nor recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Mission:
Mission of 8th Co was to counterattack the UN Forces crossing TWINNAM MUI River and to guard the main road to the north from the position on the mountain slope (DS 0949).

b. Strength of Unit:
(1) Original Strength: Dec 1950

(2) Present Strength: (as of 2 Mar 51)

Most of the differences between the present and original strength was due to men dropping out because of frostbite.

c. Chronology:
38 - Volunteered into CNA.
Jan 49 - 92nd Army (CNA) surrendered to CCF and PW was conscripted into the CCF.
Jan 51 - 66th Army crossed 38th Parallel in the vicinity of CHUNCHON.
O/a 10 Feb 51 - PW unit passed HOENGSONG and proceeded south on the main road on night march. PW had eye trouble; dropped out, rejoined his unit which retreated to HOENGSONG. Heard the Div was retreating because of the defeat in their front.
O/a 23 Feb 51 - Div retreated to about 5 km north of HOENGSONG and held this position for about a week. Heard that some units from his Regt were defending the hill opposite the main road at (DS 0950).

d. Weapons and Equipment:
Bn: 2x82mm Mortars
4 LMG
6 HMG
2 Bazookas
1 Wireless Transmitter
1 Telephone
66th Army: Has between 20 to 30 field guns.

e. Status of Supply; Route of Supply:
Ammo - Limited amount of resupply. Soldiers were told to economize on ammo. They have many trucks but cannot use them because of air attacks.
Food - No resupply.
Shelter - Most of the time is spent in mountainous area.

f. Foreign Elements:
At HONCH’ON and CHUNCH’ON, saw large concentration of NKA troops.

g. Morale:
Low

h. Most Feared Weapon:
Strafing is most feared because of its accuracy.
