Evaluation: Although he was suffering from a leg wound and frost bite, he was cooperative and information is considered reliable.

15 Jan 51 wounded by LMG fire at TANYANG-GUN, TEIKA-MYUN. 17 Jan 51 hospitalized at SUSAN-MYUN, YAN CHI DONG field hospital.
18 Jan 51 he and other patients (approx total 170) were forced to evacuate field hospital because at approx 1000 hr, US artillery and HMG fire came into village.
30 Jan 51 at approx. 0700 hr, captured by the 2nd Inf Div Security Force at CHIDONG (DR162963) after approx 12 days of wandering through mts and villages.
a. Organization:
45th Div consisted of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and F Arty Regt at TANYANG on 17 Jan 51. When PW left his unit (field arty regt), strength was approx 1,000. 45th Div strength approx 8000. 45th Div objective was TAEGU.
When PW left his unit on 17 Jan 51, his Field Arty Regt, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 45th Div Hqs were heading south. 45th Div is at present in the NAKTONG River area.
His unit had 5 wireless sets and 15 telephones, Russian made. Each Bn had one wireless set and each Co had one telephone, Russian made. These wireless sets and telephones were connected to 45th Div Hqs.
45th Div has been under II Corps since 3 Jan 51. This came in effect before the 38th parallel was crossed by 45th Div.
b. Weapons:
PW stated that the arty regt did not have any arty pieces nor mortars. The arty pieces and mortars that this regt had were all lost when they were forced to flee during the UN Forces offensive last year.
There were approx 50 PPSH SMG which were carried by officers. Others carried Russian made rifles with approx 50 to 100 rd ea man. Aside from these weapons there were no others.
45th Div was reorganized 2 Jan 51 at HWACHON with stragglers from numerous unk units.
c. Personalities:
KAN, Chi Yol (28) Col, FA Regt CO; HAN, Bon Son (25) Maj, FA Regt, 1st Bn CO; I, Chon He (24) Capt, FA Regt, 1st Bn, 2nd Co CO.
d. Clothing:
Most of the soldiers wore winter clothing. A few wore mixed (summer & winter) uniform.
e. Food:
Source of food was through whatever found in villages.
f. Medicals:
Physical condition of the men in his unit was good. He saw only 3 men suffering from frost bite.
g. Morale:
Morale was high because everyone thinks that they are going to win this war.
