Subject because a straggler at MOKTONG-NI CS 7394 when his unit was overrun by CCF troops 020100 Jan 51. Hid in mountain vic MOKTONG-NI for approx 3 days. Departed this location on 5 Jan 51 and arrived at PANDONG-RI 6km W of CHUNCHON CS8993 at 070900 JAN 51. Enroute observed estimated number of mixed CCF and NKA troops. Also 50-60 horses in makeshift stable 060600 Jan 51. Deserted PANGDONG-NI 110800 Jan 51 and arrived at small village via TAERYONG-SAN CS9789 on 131000 Jan 51. Enroute observed large number of CCF troops armed with small arms dug in on hill. Stayed at this location until 27 Jan 51. During this period heard from villager (employed by CCF as a laborer) that CCF and NKA troops confiscated rice from surrounding villages and handed the rice to vic HWAAK-SAN CT 6909. 241200 Jan 51 subject and 30 ROK stragglers engaged 12 NK troops. 12 NK killed. On 250900 Jan 51 engaged in fire-fight with 7 NK, 6 KIA, 1 escaped. 271700 Jan 51 engaged approx 300 CCF troops armed with S/A. After brief engagement the group (ROKA) disbanded. Subject proceeded 2 km S to unknown village. At this village subjects discarded his uniform and weapon. Departed unknown village 28 Jan 51 and proceeded generally SW arriving at TOCHONG-RI CS 7952 at 602000 Jan 51. Enroute at PALBONG-LI CS 8571 observed approx 500 CCF troops heading E to HONGCH'ON DS 0372 at 281700 Jan 51. Also small groups (3) of mixed CCF and NKA troops enroute. No heavy weapons, vehicles or tanks observed. Departed TOCHONG-RI and headed generally S on 310900 Jan 51. Enroute observed approx 500 bags of controlled rice along roadside CS 7951 at 311000 Jan 51. Observed 3 enemy troops dug in on hill 2 km N of KOKSU-RI CS 7742 at 311300 Jan 51. Also observed 2 - HMG on this hill. Picked up vic 19th RCT sector 311700 Jan 51.
Heard from villager vic TAERYONG-SAN that the enemy plans to set up defense positions along the 38th parallel 271500 Jan 51. Also heard from villager at TOCHONG-RI at 310500 Jan 51 that enemy plans to set up defense positions along YONGMUN-SAN CS 7258. On 271500 Jan 51 heard from villager vic TAERYONG-SAN that large number of NK woman agents disguised as refugees were dispatched to PUSAN TAEGU area to obtain information on UN troops
