a. Chronology:
Deserted his unit 11 Jan 51 PUPYONG-NI. While heading for YONGDOK, his hometown, he was captured by "C" Co of 9th Inf Regt, 2 Km NW of WONJU, 25 Jan 51.
Was forced to accompany NKA 43rd Div, Engr Plat on 20 Sept 50 at YONGDOK when unit occupied this area. He was taken from YONGDOK to KOKSAN when PW with 15 others was assigned the duty of carrying cans of dynamite (750 grams per can). This was carried on "A" frames. While at PUPYONG-NI be found the opportunity to escape.
Arrived vic WONJU, became sick and stayed in an empty house for approx 5 days where he was captured.
b. Unit Organization:
43rd Div consisted of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Regt. Engr Plat strength 19 men. Most of men carried dynamite but has never seen this dynamite used.
Engr Plat had only 3 Russian made rifles. He observed the following weapons in the 3rd Regt; 2 mortars 50mm, 4 LMG, 3 HMG, and 30% of Regt with PPSH SMG. Observed 2 cows, each carrying 2 boxes of mortar shells.
c. Clothing:
Every can in 3rd Regt wore winter clothing. Though furnished with winter clothing everyone has been suffering from frost bite.
d. Food:
Food was picked up at abandoned villages.
e. Morale:
Morale is high for they are sure of victory.
