1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW does not remember the names of places traveled in KOREA.
Information is very limited but seems fairly reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH:
50th Army: 150th Div and 2 other Div.
150th Div: 448th Regt, 2 other Rifle Regt, and attached units.
448th Regt: 1st Bn(Code Name: 1ST RESCUE UNIT), 2nd Bn(Code Name: 2ND RESCUE UNIT), 3rd Bn(Code Name: 3RD RESCUE UNIT), and other attached units.
1st Bn: 1st Co(Code Name: 1ST ASSAULT UNIT), 2nd Co(Code Name: 2ND ASSAULT UNIT), 3rd Co(Code Name: 3RD ASSAULT UNIT), Heavy Weapons Co(Code Name: 4TH ASSAULT UNIT)
1st Co: 3 Mortar Sqd.

4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Conscripted into CNA at KWANG HSI SHENG(広西省) and assigned to the CNA 46th Army, 170th Div 16 Mar 41.
Between 16 Mar 41 Mar 42, PW underwent basic Infantry training.
Mar 42 170th Div was transferred to HONAN(湖南). At HONAN, 170th Div was utilized to construct roads.
May 44 the Div marched to KWANG HSI and engaged the Japanese Army until Nov 44. The Div was defeated and retreated to HUNAN. Nov 44 to Jul 45 the remaining elements of 170th Div conducted guerrilla warfare.
Jul 45 PW was sent to SHAN HSI(陝西) to rejoin his regiment.
Oct 45 PW unit marched to HUPEI(湖北).
Oct 45 to Mar 46, PW unit trained newly conscripted troops. Mar 46 to Oct 46, PW unit battled the CCF.
15 Oct 46, the unit was sent to HOPEI SHENG(河北省) for regrouping and training.
Jan 47 the unit was transferred to HUNAN. At HUNAN, PW unit fought the CCF until Dec 48. PW Regt then retreated to HUPEI. At HUPEI, they were engaged by the CCF until Jan 48. From HUPEI, the unit retreated to SSUCHUAN SHENG(西川省).
13 Dec 49 170th Div was defeated and the remaining elements joined forces with the CCF.
Dec 49 to Jun 50, PW received political indoctrination, and upon completion, the CNA 170th Div was redesignated as 150th CCF Div.
Jun 50 CCF 150th Div was transferred to HUPEI to work on state farms.
1 Oct 50 CCF 150th Div departed for ANTUNG (arrived 10 Oct 50).
29 Oct 50 150th Div crossed the YALU River into SINUIJU (XE1938). From SINUIJU 150th Div marched through PENGMA (XE3236), CHARYON GANG (YD5171), P'YONGYANG, SEOUL and arrived at SUWON (CS2528) on 8 Jan 51. At SUWON the 150th Div was broken up into smaller units. These units operated independently, but PW believes communication-coordination was somehow conducted.
10 Jan 51 PW Bn was sent to hill 156 to construct defensive positions.
27 Jan 51, hill 156, defended by the PW Bn, was overrun by Turkish Forces. Most of the troops in the PW Bn were either taken prisoners or killed.

5. SIGNAL:
Communication between Regt and higher units was by telephone.
Bn, Co and Plat used runners.
Bugle calls were used for assembly, attack and retreat.

6. MORALE AND COMBAT EFFECTIVENESS:
Morale and combat effectiveness in the PW Regt was very low.
Reasons:
a. Most of the troops are ex-Nationalists troops.
b. Fatigue.
c. Fear of air attack.
d. Lack of food and clothing.
e. Troops do not receive pay.

7. UN PW:
When PW Div passed through P'YONGYANG, date unk, approx 300 PW (US, British & ROKA) were observed marching north, PW was told by his Co CO the PW were being sent to MANCHURIA.

8. MEDICAL:
(a) Have you noted any disease in you unit?
Yes. An unk illness that caused headaches followed by vomiting was prevalent among 7% of the Co personnel.
(b) What immunization and other counter-measures have been and are being taken?
None.
(c) How many frost bite and frozen feet cases have occurred in your unit?
Negative.

9. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily?
a. PW was captured; he did not voluntarily surrender.
b. Did you see any UN leaflets hear UN loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. No.
