ASSIGNED TO THE 50th Regt. 15th Div. vic HONGCHON o/a 27 Nov 50.
O/a 18 Dec 50 the 50th Regt came S to vic approx 30 KM N WONJU PW heard entire 15th Div was located in or around that vic.
O/a 1 Jan 51 the 50th Regt started moving SE during the night and on the third night, 3 Jan 51, deserted his unit but was picked up and punished.
O/a 4 Jan 51 the 50th Regt reached the mountain vic of YONGWOL.
On 9 Jan 51 when 50th Regt was moving S through O-SANGCHON (DS4105), once again deserted his unit and hid in the mountains. Last saw 50th Regt traveling S on the night of 9 Jan 51.
He was in the mountains until 28 Jan 51 when he came down to CHAJANG-NI (DS3707) where he was captured by UN Troops.
PW heard from the Company CO that the objective of 50th Regt was PUSAN and Regt strength was approx 2,000 troops.
All troops were in winter uniform and armed with either M-1 Rifles, Carbines, Soviet rifles or PPSH SMG. Regt weapons consist of 1 x 82mm mortar, 1 HMG and 2 LMG.
Food supplies were insufficient and troops ate only twice a day and at times only once.
3 men out of his Company of 37 men fell out because of stomach ailments.
Morale of the troops was very low because of insufficient food.
