2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was in the 2nd Division for 3 days.
Although military information seems limited it is considered to be reliable.

 About 5% of weapons in PW Co were in unworkable condition.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:

PW separated from his unit on 11 Jan 51 after an engagement with UN troops at TANYANG (DR 3987). 4 soldiers were retreating N, and, while trying to ease their frost bitten feet, they were captured by 5th ROK Division 21 Jan 51 at TONGDAE RI.
At TANYANG o/a 10 Jan 51, PW heard that the 2nd Division mission was to take ANDONG (DR 7545). They were to stage guerrilla warfare by disrupting UN supply routes and communications.
Mission of II Corps was to take PUSAN (EP 0183).
While near the 38th parallel, o/a 30 Dec 50, PW heard from the CO that the 10th Div would proceed S of the 38th parallel first; 9th Div second; 2nd Div third; and the 31st Div last.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted into the Korean Volunteer Group, 15th TUNG PEI Branch Unit, CHILIN SHENOT Regiment Provincial Guard Unit on 6 Jul 16 at CHILINSON, MANCHURIA.
Received 3 months of Infantry training at TUNGPEI.
March 1947 PW was placed into TUNG SHIEN WU YIN SSULENG PU TI EHTAI CHAN CHING ■■■ LIEN TU■SHIEN (■■后■■司■■第二六 ■■■■) Rear Duty Hq 2nd TA CHAN, Guard Co at EWADEN. This company accompanied trucks, horses, and oxen carts for security between PAN SHIH (半石) and HDOTIEN (火田) MANCHURIA.
Mar 48, PW transferred to 4th Field Army, Rear Duty, 2nd Div, 6th TAE CHAN, Guard Plat (第四野電軍■■■■■■■■■警戒■) at CHINCHOU (錦州). Duty of Plat was to supply ammo to the combat troops in the CHINCHOU area.
20 Mar 48, the 4th Field Army left CHINCHOU by foot, always fighting on way and arrived at HWANG HSI SHENG KUEI LIN SEIH (黃西省硅林市) Jan 50.
1 Mar 50, by order of MAO TSE TUNG (毛沢東), all Koreans in the CCF Army were ordered to report to CHENGCHOU(■■).
PW arrived CHEGCHOU by train 7 Mar 50. At CHENGCHOU the Korean 15th Division was organized. PW was placed into the 9th Co, 3rd Bn, 7th Regt, 15th Division. However, after 3days, 1,000 Koreans with 4 years of education and between the ages of 18 to 25, were grouped and shipped to KOREA, to organize a MECHANIZED Unit.
1,000 men, including PW left CHENGCHOU by train 10 Mar 50 and arrived SINUIJU (KE 1839) 20 Mar 50.
1,000 men received North Korean uniforms at SINUIJU.
1,000 men left SINUIJU by train 21 Mar 50 and arrived SADONG (사동) 21 Mar 50.
21 Mar 50 the NKA 603rd Independent Mechanized Regiment organized at SADONG (YD 4424).
PW received 3 months of 82mm Mortar training at SADONG. Mortars placed on Russian jeeps.

Independent 603rd Mechanized Regiment retreated from MASAN with 300 original troops and 500 South Korean recruits. Jeeps, ■■, and equipment destroyed by UN forces. The unit passed KUMCHON d/u Aug 50
And arrived TAEJON Sep 50. At TAEJON 500 South Korean recruits were sent home after uniforms and weapons were taken away.
From TAEJON PW proceeded to MAJON NI (CT 2210) Oct 50. 300 original soldiers of the 603rd marched from TAEJON through mountains to MAJON NI. On way to MAJON NI, these men were attacked by UN troops and scattered. Only 4 soldiers including PW arrived MAJON NI. At MAJON NI, these 4 soldiers were apprehended by North Korean officers and placed into 15th Div, 50th Regt, 1st Bn, 1st Co, which was reorganizing.

3rd Bn CO told the men that the 50th Regt, 15th Div was to be placed into the 2nd Div in the vic of the 38th parallel. PW did not know what became of the 40th and 45th Regt of the 15th Div.
At an unk place S of the 38th parallel, 1st Co, 2nd Bn, 50th Regt, 15th Div was cut off from the other units by UN forces Dec 50.
9 Jan 51, 1st Co, 2nd Bn, 50th Regt, 15th Div personnel placed into the 2nd Div at TANYANG. PW placed into 4th Plat, 9th Co, 3rd Bn, 17th Regt, 2nd Div.
11 Jan 51, PW separated from his unit at TANYANG due to a UN attack and was captured by the 5th ROK Division 21 Jan 51 and TONGDAE RI.

6. FOOD, AMMO AND OTHER SUPPLIES:

Ammo last received at SING’YE NOV 50. Food was confiscated from villages.

7. SIGNAL

8. MORALE AND BATTLE EFFECTIVENESS:
Morale in the PW Company low because of lack of food, strafing, and frost bitten feet. Only officers and party members were willing to fight.

9. US, ROKA, OTHER PW:
PW saw 10 ROK PW near the 38th parallel in Dec 50.
These men were to be returned to their units for propaganda purposes, making the UN believe that the NKA does not kill PW.

10. MEDICAL:
1/4 of the men in PW Co had frost bitten feet. No medical treatment was given because they lacked medicine. No immunization received by PW since Jun 50.

11. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
