PW was left behind by his unit, when his unit retreated from TA 8819X. PW voluntarily surrendered because of his wound. Not recommended for further interrogation.

b. Chronology:
14 Dec 50 - Conscripted at KUMHWA, NORTH KOREA.
17 Dec 50 - Approximately 400 troops left KUMHWA, NORTH KOREA. Heard unit destination was PUSAN via TAEGU and plan was to take both cities by Feb 51. Travel at night on foot. Followed mountain trail.
O/A 21 Dec 50 - Joined with 29th Regt advance force at YONGWORI, KOREA (approx 70 miles S of 38th Parallel). PW unit engaged UN force 7 times while en route to TA 8819X.
Night of 24 Jan 51 - Arrived at TA 8819X.
0800 25 Jan 51 - PW unit contacted UN force at TA 8819X area. Unit started retreating north around 1000 hr. PW believed his unit lost about 60% of troops since unit left KUMHWA. Captured 1200 hr by ROK National Police.

Approx 400 US M-1 Rifles (about 50 rd each)
Rest - Russian type rifles (about 70 rd each)

Did not have any vehicles or other equipment.
d. Status of Supply:
Did not receive any supply from rear. Foods were taken from nearby villages. Poor medical facilities. Village houses were used for shelter.
e. Morale:
Morale was low because of lack of food and ammo supplies. PW claimed that UN air strike (Napalm bomb especially) was the most effective weapon used against them.
