1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW cooperative but unobservant. Information was limited due to length of service.
During the course of interrogation PW was always consulting fellow interrogees for place name and dates.
Reliability - Poor.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
O/a 20 Dec 50 - PW was told at his registered domicile to report to an area between his home and the 38th Parallel. Here he was conscripted and assigned to the 10th Div, 25th Regt, 3rd Bn, Mortar Co. (The Mortar Co strength 13 enlisted men and 1 officer).
PW thinks that the 25th Regt departed this area o/a 25 Dec 50 and headed South. They marched an average 8 km per night, through the mountains.
At TOKSAN-MYON PW was hospitalized for frostbite.
He was told by one of the 3 nurses (no doctor) that there were 100 soldiers of the 25th Regt also hospitalized with frostbite. Mercurochrome was the only medicine available.
During hospitalization all patients were told to evacuate due to ROKA advance. Patients assembled at a nearby mountain and travelled toward MUNGYONG.
O/a 22 Jan 51 PW and 6 fellow patients were captured while asleep.

4. WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL: 22 Jan 51
Estimated strength of the 3rd Bn was 300 men, but at present reduced to 200 due to desertions and casualties. No further breakdown available except the Mortar Co, which had 13 men and 1 officer. They were armed with 5 Russian rifles with 30 rd ammo per rifle, and 1 mortar with 10 rounds. No other equipment.

5. FOOD:
Food received at the hospital and on the field were the same.
No foreign elements.

6. MORALE:
Morale - Low, due to exhausting march and lack of food.
