PW voluntarily surrendered to 1st Bn, 5th RCT. Appeared to be in good physical condition at time of interrogation. PW was former Nationalist Army soldier and held a rank of Superior Private. Recommended for further interrogation.

PW deserted his unit 040200 Feb 51. 7th Company located 2½ km North of place of capture, having arrived there 1 Feb 51. 9th Company located 2½ km West of 7th Co. 8th Co located 400 meters West of 9th Company. Elements of 2nd Bn, 334th Regt located 3 - 4 km West of 8th Co, 3rd Bn, 334th Regt. 1st Bn located approx 2 km West of 2nd Bn. 334th Regt Hqs located approx 7 km Northwest of PW Company. PW heard 335th Regt was located to their East and 336th Regt to their West.

c. Replacements:
Heard 10 days ago that one Plat Ldr from each company of 112th Div departed for MANCHURIA for new replacements. They were to return with enough men and weapons to bring the 112th Div to full strength. They are expected back in 20 days.
d. Intentions:
Mission of 112th Div is to maintain a defensive line until other divisions cross the HAN River. 28 Jan PW heard an officer of his Bn state that 13th Army group of the 4th Field Army will cross the HAN River. A new offensive will start after crossing is completed.
e. Morale:
The morale is low for the following reasons:
(1) Afraid of constant air & arty bombardment.
(2) Insufficient food and cold weather.
(3) Inadequate weapons to match & combat UN air & arty bombardment.
(4) Lack of supplies, shoes, clothes.
(5) Fear that this will be a long & drawn out war.
f. Leaflets:
Leaflets may be read by troops but they are forbidden to discuss them.
g. US PW:
Observed 12 to 13 US PW at SANCHON-DONG (phonetic) o/a 15 Dec 50.
