Apprehended by 1 Bn, 187th Airborne RCT 261100 Jan 51 at CHANGNIM. He was captured by the 11th NK Regt (Div designation unknown) in the vicinity of CHUNCH’ON o/a 2 Jan 51. He and 20 other PW were forced to work as food carriers and accompany his captors in their southward advance. On or about 7 Jan 51 the 11th NK Regt was hit by friendly air while enroute during the day, and suffered 50 KIA and 10 WIA: This was the only instance when day travel was attempted. The Regt was not engaged by UN Forces while source was held prisoner.
Source states that he escaped somewhere in TANYANG County o/a 17 Jan 51, and was enroute to rejoin his unit when he was apprehended by UN troops. He was wearing civilian clothes and his uniform was taken from him by his NK captors.
