PW voluntarily surrendered to elements of 2nd Bn, 19th RCT, suffering from frostbitten feet. PW was cooperative and of below average intelligence. During course of interrogation Chinese speaking interpreter unable to understand PW. Chinese characters utilized. Subject spoke CANTON dialect. Held rank of Pvt in the Chinese Nationalist Army.
a. Chronology:
PW inducted into Chinese Nationalist Army at KWANDUNGSONG 10 May 45. Captured by elements of the CCF at HAINAN Island 5 May 50. 339th Regt crossed the 38th parallel o/a 28 Dec 50. Arrived vic 2 km SE from place of capture o/a 1 Feb 51 where 339th Regt set up defensive positions. O/a 031900 Feb the 339th Regt (composed of 600 men) equipped with 6 - 81mm mortars, 9 - 60mm mortars, 2 - Howitzer (Type 92 ?) retreated generally NE to unknown location. During withdrawal PW became a straggler due to frostbitten feet 031900 Feb 51.

113th Div composed of 337th, 338th and 339th Regt. 3 Bn in each Regt. 3 Inf Co and Hvy Wpn Co in each Bn.

Food procured locally. Issued 300 rds rifle ammo 10 days ago.
e. Morale:
Morale low among troops due to incessant air strikes and shellings. Also lack of food and warm clothing. Many suffering from frostbitten feet.
f. Replacement:
Approx 10 days ago heard from political leader that 100,000 CCF troops will reinforce their current military strength in KOREA.
