2. ASSESSMENT:
Very cooperative, but observation limited, since he was only 12 years old at the time. Reliability - poor.

CHRONOLOGY:
1937 - 1939 - Went to NOSONG, MANCHURIA in 1937 when he was 3 years of age and resided there until 1939. His family was operating a lumber yard.
1939 - 1943 - Returned to YONG BYON KOREA with his mother and stayed there for 4 years.
1943 - Aug 1945 - Returned to SIN SU, MANCHURIA, with his mother and resided there until Aug 1945. During this time he went to elementary school for 2 years and finished the 4th grade.
Aug 1945 - 5 Sep 45 - Lost his father in MANCHURIA in April 45 and in Aug 45, they started their trip back to KOREA (Mother, sister and himself). Enroute to KOREA, he stayed at an airfield in SUIHWA (綬花) for 20 days and reached YONG PYON, KOREA on Sep 1945.

NAME OF TARGET AND LOCATION
The people in this area called this the SUIHWA airfield.
This airfield was located about 2.8 km WSW of the SUIHWA RR STATION.
OBSERVATION
This was an oval shape airfield and it measured about 8 km from W/S and about 4 km from E/W (See sketch)
RUNWAY AND SURFACE
Observed one concrete runway about 1 km long and 15m wide running W/S. The surface of the airfield was hard and there was grass growing on the other parts of the airfield.
ACCESS
There was one road leading to this airfield from the E side.
This road was a dirt road about 6 m wide.
BLDG
Observed about 30 hangars (size of hangars unknown) on the E and S side of the field. The hangars all had concrete taxi strip leading to the runway (See sketch for location of hangars). The size of buildings were unknown but the construction materials were brick, wood, and sheet iron. Observed 2 Japanese fighter planes and 4 Russian twin engine planes in one of the hangars but cannot recall which one it was.
AIRCRAFT DISPOSAL POINT
Observed two Russian twin engine planes on the SW side of the concrete runway. Know it was a Russian airplane because he saw a star on the wing and also saw a Russian pilot getting off the plane. PW was shown the pictures of Russian twin engine planes but was unable to pinpoint the type.
MISCELLANEOUS
Observed about 400 Russian soldiers on this field.
