PW was interrogated through Korean interpreter because he understood very little Japanese. PW memory of past incidents, names of personnel and dates was very poor. Reliability - poor.
ARMED FORCES
AIRFIELD 15 Feb 48 - 10 Sep 49
PW Bn guarded airfield at eastern end of MUKDEN. 2d Bn was guarding factories and streets. The battalions were stationed here for one year - from Aug 48 to Sep 49. CCF fighters used this airfield arriving from CH’ANGCH’UN (長春).
The airfield was in charge of a colonel, (Manchurian) name unknown.
PW claims he heard nothing of improvements on the field.
The wireless station was run by about 50 Manchurians. The repair crew of about 50 was Manchurian.
ECONOMICS - MUKDEN
PEOPLE
PW claims the population of MUKDEN is 2,000,000. 8% or 9% is Korean - other Chinese.
MEDICINE FACTORY - Obs - 1 trip
PW made one trip to Medicine factory, manufacturing Internal Medicine. Run by 400 civilian Manchurians. No other information available. (See sketch “B”).
