2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was fairly cooperative and observant. He volunteered to give what information he had. Estimates of locations, distances; and dimensions were good. Observation of targets were made only from the outside. Reliability, fair.

3. CHRONOLOGY:
14 Dec 16 - Born in North KOREA.
1917 - Aug 39 - After 6 years of Primary School, PW worked as a tailor in MANCHURIA, CHIENTAOSHENG, YENCHIHSIEN, ILANKANG (間島省 延吉縣 位蘭講).
Sep 39 - O/a 20 Mar 46 - PW was a clothing dealer in MANCHURIA, YENCHI HSIEN, FUMEN KUANGTECH’U (延吉縣 圖們市 康德區).
O/a 20 Mar 46 - PW left for KOREA.

TRANSPORTATION:
RR Bridge, TUMEN   Obs: (daily) - 1939 - Mar 46
Location: The bridge was located approximately 500 m SE of the TUMEN RR Station and 100 m S of a concrete bridge (see sketch for location).
Description: Approximately 50 m long, 7 m wide, 3 m above river, TUMEN River (豆滿江), with 7 concrete piers (3 m high); Single track RR used the S half, pedestrians and vehicles used the N half.
No spans. Constructed of steel.
Capacity: Unknown
Remarks: PW believed that the bridge was built around 1930 by the Manchurian Railroad Co. The river rose over 2 m in Aug yearly, but caused no damage to the bridge.

CONCRETE Bridge, TUMEN
Obs: 1939 - Mar 46 (daily)
Location: 450 m SE TUMEN RR Station and 100 m N steel RR bridge. (See sketch)
Description: Approximately 50 m long, 4 m wide, 3 m above river, no span, concrete construction, about 6 concrete piers (3 m high).
Capacity: Unknown
Remarks: Bridge was completed in 1945 by Korean laborers supervised by Japanese.

COMMUNICATION:
Post Office, TUMEN   Obs: 1939 - 20 Mar 46
Location: Approximately 100 m ESE of TUMEN RR Station, 450 m NW of steel RR bridge. (see sketch)
Description: Two story, concrete building, 40 m x 20 m, flat roof, 3 -4 brick smokestacks.
Capacity: Only post office and telegraph office in TUMEN.
Number of employees, unknown.
Remarks: Building was built by Japanese and fairly new.

HOSPITAL: (KYORITSU)
TUMEN        Obs: 1939 - Mar 46.
Location: 250 m SE of TUMEN RR Station, 250 m NW of steel RR bridge (see sketch).
Description: Two story, brick building, 30 m x 15 m, flat roof.
Capacity: 100-150 beds.
Remarks: Was constructed and managed by Japanese during PW observation. Called KYORITSU (共立) Hospital.

HOSPITAL: JUNTEN (順天), TUMEN  Obs: 1939 - Mar 46
Location: Approximately 300 m ESE TUMEN RR Station, 300 m NNW steel RR bridge (see sketch).
Description: 2-story, brick building, 30 m x 15 m, flat roof.
Capacity: 150 beds
Remarks: Building was old. Used by Koreans and called JUNTEN Hospital.

ECONOMICS: TUMEN   Obs: 1939 - Mar 46
TOKO Bank:
Location: 100 m SE TUMEN RR Station, and 50 m S of Post Office.
Description: 2-story, concrete building, gable type roof, 30 m x 15 m, no smokestack.
Capacity: Unknown
Remarks: Only bank in TUMEN. Managed by Japanese till Aug 45, called TOKO (東興) Bank.
