150th Division passed through P'YONGYANG 13 Dec 50 and marched over main highway, arriving in the vicinity of 38th Parallel 25 Dec 50.
PW and his section remained there while the division departed 29 Dec 50 southward towards SEOUL.
PW and his section departed on 7 Jan 51 and arrived SEOUL 12 Jan 51 via KORANGPO (BT 1207). Departed SEOUL same day and arrived HABONG CH'ON(下逢川) (approx 10 km NE of SUWON) where the div headquarters was located.
The division was participating in the defense there.
Deserted his unit 060300 Feb 51 and surrendered 26 km NE of CHANGKOK-DONG (長谷洞) (SE of SEOUL area).
Approximately 2/3 of the present regimental commanders in the 50th Army were formerly CNA officers.
Approximately 3/4 of battalion and lower echelon unit commanders were former CNA unit commanders.

b. Location and Activities of Unit:
150th Division was last seen in the general area of "HA BONGCH'ON" (phonetic) (approximately 10 km NE of SUWON), Division Headquarters was at HA BONGCH'ON, 5 Feb 51.
Mission was to defend present area in order to give some other units an opportunity to rest and regroup.
22 Jan 51, the chiefs of staff of regiments and divisions and probably army, were summoned to MUKDEN for a conference. They did not return as of the time the PW deserted his unit 5 Feb 51. PW estimate the conference:
They would discuss the failure of the CCF units in KOREA and of the immense amount of manpower and supplies used up to the present; also, of the probabilities of the entrance of new CCF units into the Korean War. Estimated that no new units can be possibly thrown into the war or in time for the proposed Spring Offensive as it would take approximately 2 months to supply and transport troops and equipment to KOREA. In that the best units in the CCF with its manpower and supplies, have failed to reach its objective, probably no new units will be sacrificed unless equipped by the Russians.
Russian officers may probably attend the MUKDEN conference.

e. Artillery:
Approximately 4 x 75mm Mountain guns arrived at KWANG MYONG NI ( ) with the 150th Division. Approximately 50 rd per gun were issued on 25 Jan 51.

f. Food and Ammo and Other Supplies:
The supply section received winter shoes from MANCHURIA while in SEOUL 20 Jan 51. Shoes were distributed to the 450th Regiment.
30 Jan 51, the entire 50th Army was distributed 1½kg of flour, 3/4 kg of pork per man and 1 can of meat to every 2 men.
No other supplies were received from MANCHURIA.
The 150th Division used approximately 10,000,000 Won for monthly food supplies. Regardless of the amount of money spent, the food situation could not improve, because Korean staples were so scarce.
An average of 2 meals per day were eaten by the troops.
The only ordnance supplies received were used weapons.

g. Morale:
Morale was low due to the losing battle they are presently fighting.
During the CCF rapid advance, morale was at its peak.
Although being warned of possessing leaflets, many were seen reading them. PW felt that many were contemplating surrendering, due to the CCF present condition.

h. Psychological Warfare:
PW surrendered. He claimed that he was opposed to communism and that he wanted to return to FORMOSA where he could return to the CNA service.
Saw leaflets on 20 Dec 50 at an unknown area. It stated:
"The Chinese are fighting a useless war. Good treatment and medical care would await you who surrender".
Believed its contents and wondered why it was not used sooner.
