Information seems fairly reliable.
a. Chronology:
Conscripted into the NKA on 7 Aug 50 at HAEJU (YC 3813) and assigned to the HWANGHAE DO Defence Bureau, Staff Section as a wireless operator.
17 Oct 50, the HWANGHAE DO Defence Bureau transferred to P'YONGYANG, but after the UN Parachute jump in North KOREA the unit was disbanded.
PW fled north through mountainous terrain to WISONG (RA6728), arriving there 30 Oct 50.
3 Nov 50, assigned to the newly organized 8th Division, Signal Bn, Wireless Company located in WISONG-MYON.
7 Nov 50, the Signal Bn, 8th Division (newly organized) arrived at CH'OSAN (YE 3624) and the troops of the Signal Bn were assigned to the Signal Bn of the original 8th Division.
From 8 Nov 50 to 2 Dec 50, the 8th Div trained in the CHOSAN Area. 2 Dec 50, the troops of the Wireless Co, Signal Bn, 8th Div were placed on duty with the 3 regiments of the 8th Div. Assigned to the 2nd Regiment as a wireless operator.
3 Dec 50, 8th Div departed CHOSAN and marched through PALWON-MYON (YE 3519), MA■NGJUNG-DONG (YD 2492), SUNAN (YD 3342), SOPPO (YD 3729), SADONG (YD 4332), CHUNGHWA (YD 4305), HWANGJU (YC 4283), SARIWON (YC 4065), KUMCHON (BT 7926), KAESONG (BT 8605), CHANG DAN (CT 0301), and arrived SEOUL 6 Jan 51.
9 Jan 51, the 2nd and 3rd Regt of 8th Div departed SEOUL, and stopped 4 Km south of YONGDUNGPO (CS 1553). At this place all troops of the wireless Co, Signal Bn, 8th Div returned to their unit and received 5 days training.
27 Jan 51, PW and three others of the Wireless Co were placed on duty with the 1st Regt, 8th Div.
28 Jan 51, the 8th Div arrived at a place 4 Km North of ANYANG (CS 1741) where they engaged UN Forces until 8 Feb 51.
Feb 51, retreated northward into SEOUL where Div regrouped.
12 Feb 51, departed SEOUL, crossing the HAN River at CS 2755 over ice, and marched to mountain where 13 Feb 51, the 1st Regt, 8th Div received heavy artillery fire.
14 Feb 51, the 1st Regt, was attacked by UN Forces and was dispersed and retreated in disorder. PW was captured.
b. Location and Activities of Units:
The mission of the 1st Regt, 8th Div was to cut UN supply routes and routes of withdrawal in the area South of SUWON (CS 2527). Departed SEOUL on 12 Feb 51 and was ordered to complete its mission in 6 days. The entire I NK Corps was to attack toward SUWON from SEOUL.
Heard that one CCF Army was in SEOUL 12 Feb 51.
12 Feb 51, heard that the 50th CCF Army was in the SUWON Area.

e. Food, Ammo and Supplies:
When the 1st Regt, 8th Div departed SEOUL 12 Feb 51, 6 days food ration were carried by each man.
12 Feb 51, heard that the railroad line between SINUIJU (XE 1839) and P'YONGYANG and also between HAEJU and SARIWON was in operation.
10 Feb 51, the troops of 1st Regt, 8th Div were issued winter shoes which were made in CHINA.
f. Armor, Artillery and Aircraft:
8 Feb 51, observed 4 to 5 tanks heading toward INCH'ON (BS 1950) near ANYANG. Heard that these tanks were captured from the British near SUWON.
12 Feb 51, PW observed 3 tanks and Weasel at SODAE MUN (西大門) in SEOUL. Tanks appeared to be similar to the T-34.
g. Morale and Battle Effectiveness:
Morale of the 8th Div troops was high until the unit suffered heavy losses engaging UN Forces near ANYANG during the period 28 Jan 51 to 8 Feb 51. After this engagement the troops realized the superior fire power of the UN forces, and the morale dropped.
h. UN PW:
Heard that UN PW were sent to the Miners' Dormitory in the CHOLSAN (YE 4303) Area. Heard that US PW captured in the UNSAN (YE 3928) Area were sent to CHOLSAN.
i. Medical:
No communicable disease or frostbitten feet were noticed with the 8th Div troops.
j. Psychological Warfare:
PW was captured and had seen no leaflets.
