2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative and gave information without hesitation. Source joined the CCF in MANCHURIA and was transferred to the NKA in Apr 50. Reliability: Good.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
1-3 Jan 51 - 2nd and 3rd Regt of the 12th Div encountered UN Forces at KWANON NI (20 km E of WONJU). 1st Regt held in reserve.
7 Jan 51 - 12th Div entered WONJU
8 Jan 51 - Div withdrew from WONJU due to hvy Arty fire.
14 Jan 51 - Div Hq arr SADONGMYON (12 km N of HOENGSONG). 1st Regt deployed 1 km N of HOENGSONG, 2nd Regt 1 km E of HOENGSONG, and 3rd Regt 3 km W of HOENGSONG (DS 1149).
4-5 Feb 51 - Encountered ROK Forces at HOENGSONG.
5 Feb 51 - Captured by ROK.

b. Intentions:
To set up a road block between SEOUL and WONJU to stop the UN advance, allowing units in the rear to re-organize and rest.
PW heard from Bn CO o/a 1 Feb that a general offensive was scheduled on 20 Feb 51 with a force of one million NK and CCF troops.

d. Code Names and Numbers: (as of 4 Feb 51)
12th Div Hq: “KUNIBU” (Med Section)
2nd Regt: “TSUKYOKBU” (Pursuit Unit)
1st Bn, 2nd Regt: “TOLGYOKBU” (Charging Unit)
Above code names were used in official communications only. These code names came into use since 25 Jan 51. Each set of codes was used for approx 10 days.
The code numbers mentioned below were used commonly by troops, and are effective for approx 1 month.

e. Casualties:
Approx 3 were KIA and 3 WIA in his Plat at HOENGSONG (DS 1149) 25 Jan 51. An average of 15 to a Co were stricken with typhus, and 4 serious cases of frostbite. These casualties were left behind.

f. Morale:
Morale was low due to lack of food and supply. The troops were also tired of listening to false NKA promises, that they would soon win the war and that they would be supported by new tanks and planes.

g. Supplies:
(1) Ammo: Last supply was received from HONGCHON (DS 0272) 25 Jan 51. Each man received 60 rd.
(2) Food: Requisitioned from local civilians.
(3) Clothing: Only 50% of PW Regt were issued winter clothing in Dec 50.

h. Personalities:
